Who Owns name 'Rolling Stones"

Who owns the name the "Rolling Stones"? I would assume Jagger & Richards?

It would never happen, but legally could Watts--Jagger & Richards leave the band and be replaced with "Rolling Stones" name in use?

This isn't to argue that philisophically it wouldn't be the "Rolling Stones" w/o anyone of those 3 members. I'd agree on that issue....but legally could it happen?

If you think about it, the estate of Brian Jones mihgt have a say in the name "Rolling Stones", as he named the band.

I see all these 'Drifters", "Platters", "Coasters" continuing on without any (or maybe 1 ) original members...in comedy, the Three Stooges went on with Shemp (spelling?)...in a strange world, we could conceivably end up with a Rollong Stones with a "Shemp-like" guitarist in place of Keith (Ha-ha!).

On a related subject, does the "Ruby Tuesday" resturant chain pay any royalties to Jagger/Richards?

I recall in the mid 80's there were 3 versions of The Clash touring, one with Joe Strummer, one with Mick Jones and one with Topper Headon!

The Temptations still tour, although none of the original band members is with them anymore. I think all have now passed away.

Also, original Deep Purple vocalist Rod Evans toured as Deep Purple in the mid 80's but I think legal action forced him to stop. Similar to the current Beach Boys situation, where lead singer Mike Love tours as The Beach Boys. I think Bruce Johnston is with him, too. Former bandmate Al Jardine also toured as The Beach Boys but was sued by Love so he had to stop. Sad way for bands and friendships to end!
