L&G : played half step up as normal !?

yesterday i wanted to play with the dvd "ladies and gentleman", and then i heard that they didnt play the songs as usual but a half step up. so not in open g but open g# . why ? because most of the other concerts of this concert were played "normally", or is it because they filmed it !?

Yep. I've noticed that. It's the 4Reel version, innit? It sounds sharper than the standard pitch.

interesting - what system is your disk, PAL or NTSC?
someone told me recently that converting from one to the other entails a change in speed (and pitch) of something like 4%,
but i forget which is the faster one.
anyway, Gimme Shelter, i think it's more a question of recording speed than a change in the key they were actually playing in.

Could be. I was trying to play Bye Bye Johnnie a long and it didn't sound good in the key of C. It sounded much better in C#.

It's not they played the songs on another key, anyway. The Ladies and Gentlemen soundtrack CD I have runs at the correct speed. It's only a recording issue, so the DVD sounds shaper.
