======Speaking of opening bands... What ever happend to ======
Man, he rocked back in the day.
His opening acts for the Stones in 1981 literally blew the competition away. He was a great rocker but got lost in all that "Bad to the Bone" commercial silliness.
he's still at it but has become sort of a parody of himself in recent years, unfortunately. Those first 3 albums still stand apart from everything he's done since. And his show is watered down with excess musicians (gee - where have I seen that before!?)....I always have wished for a softer/country-type album from Lonesome George - his voice is much better suited for that kind of material. Very often his best songs are the ones (Wanted Man, Six Days on the Road) that border on acoustic/country.....
I wonder if it would be commercially successful for him to do a country thing? Would love to see it with his special twang....it would probably get current airplay on country radio as well.
Its hard to believe but when he opened for the Stones in New Orleans in '81, he outrocked Keith. Its a wonder his guitar didn't explode.

Thorogood played a bar in Portland in 1981 the night I proposed to my future wife - it was THE loudest show I have EVER been to. We left fearing our lives (at least our ears) were at stake about 20 minutes into it.
I saw him about two years ago in Oslo, and I think it was one of the funniest shows I've been to. It's all about beer and rock'n'roll. Great guy, hope he never changes.
