So I am in Chicago on Jan 22, a Sunday Night. Chances of Buddy Guy tickets look slim. So what are some other clubs that will be worth visiting on a Sunday night?

So, can you still visit Decca Studio? Please, some info
As I got it there´s not much left of Chess Studio quarters. Guess someone else knows more here; ....Gary/Gazza? Still I would see it even if was a total Ground 0.
as far as i know you can still visit Chess studios - they have guided tours and all that. here's a link with some details: [metromix.chicagotribune.com]

Ya saved Kaahosier´s day there right away. The Pug at RO has lived all his life in Chi-ca-go, but never been at 2120. I thought it was mashed potatoe by now. - And thanx for the link!
Kaahosier, note the cab thing, will ya! - I´d recommend you to ask about the club thing at Rocks Off too.

Chess is most definitely still available for visits as a lot of the Rocks Off crowd went there in September. As far as I'm aware, its no longer a "working" studio, though

of course, there's the Checkerboard lounge on the Southside complete with a pic of the Stones on the wall when they played there with Muddy Waters...still a great time, truly authentic blues...

Well, now you know what to do Sunday evening, don't you?
In september, i went to the beach listening a band live and drinking beer. The water was very warm and some natives quite hot (the black ones specially) But it was in september... Chess studios were closed saturday afternoon and sunday.
Lived there nearly a decade and still miss the damn place.
There are a slew of other blues clubs to try:
BLUES 2519 Halsted Street BLUE CHICAGO on Clark Street ROSAS on Armitage Kingston Mines 2548 Halsted the best though, is Fitzgerald's, which is out in suburban Berwyn, neat Oak park, and was one of Stevie Ray Vaughn's favorite places and has a mix of blues, folk, rock, country and jazz.
I was going to say that you could go to any sports bar to watch the Bears take on the Seattle Seahawks for the NFC final, but unfortunately they choked today and lost to Carolina (who were the better team today). Can't believe how poor their defense was today. Also, can't believe Indy lost again today. Manning is beginning to look like a great regular season QB that can't get it done in the playoffs, like Dan Marino.
Kudos to troubador for mentioning Fitzgeralds, one of the coolest live music joints in the world. Over the years I'be been lucky enough to see the Neville Brothers, Joe Ely Band (with David Grissom and Bobby Keyes), and Peter Wolf there. Sunday nights are big band jazz nights but anyone visiting Chicago should check their schedule and make the $20 cab ride from downtown. If you want to Google them, it's in Berwyn, Illinois.

Ditto Green Mill
Jazz Showcase is good for higher-end talent
B.L.U.E.S. on Halsted is fun, simple blues bar
Lonnie Walker's Underground WonderBar is fun in River North...
Fitzgeralds is sort of out-of-the-way, probably not going to have a big headliner on a Sunday but who knows...
There's Dozens if not over one hundred options... u should be more specific about what you enjoy doing.
