OT: The Borgata as a Venue and Reviews of Recent Chili Peppers gig there....
Posted by: BornOnTheBayou ()

I was just reading some reviews of the Chili Peppers recent gig at the Borgata in Atlantic City... got me thinking that, first, I've never been to this place, 2nd I probably should go...

Has anyone seen a gig there yet ??

Not the first set of Rave Reviews I've read about it... Here's just a few samples:

"I am having such terrible concert withdrawl symptoms right now. After such an amazing summer and getting to see them 3 times after having never seen them, I wait every day to hear of their tour. I am having a hard time waiting. The borgata was the most amazing night Ive ever experienced. Wouldnt it be great if they played there again??"

"DUDE
best @#$%& conert I've ever been to.
John was right in front of me. I was really @#$%& close to the stage. The intro was awesome, then they went into By The Way. Then Scar Tissue... then Fortune Faded... then Otherside (I think that's the order it went in). I thought that was pretty early on for Otherside. They played SOUL TO SQUEEZE! A minute or two after they left the stage Flea and John came back, Flea was on trumpet and John was on bass. They were playing some improvisional stuff in the beggining, then the bass line John was playing turned into The Will To Death. Then Chad started hitting a huge gong he had, and Anthony played drums for about 30 seconds (maybe that happened earlier, I don't remember). Then of course they closed with Under The Bridge and Give It Away. In the beggining of Under The Bridge I wanted to get a picture of John sitting on the edge of the stage, but there were too many heads in the way. Oh well. It was @#$%& awesome. The whole crowd started going crazy when Give It Away began. Best night of my life. I'll post my pictures when I get the developed."

"...YESSSSSSS that SHOW @#$%& ROCKED Honestly I've seen the Chili's three times and they FUKCING ROCKED EVERY TIME but this TIME WAS THE BEST CONCERT ILL EVER SEE...honestly words cannot explain how much they @#$%& rocked at the Borgata...I HAD A @#$%& AWESOME VIEW..only one girl was in front of me and I was able to reach my across the rail if i wanted to. During the Can't Stop intro JOHN WAS PLAYING RIGHT IN @#$%& FRONT OF ME IT WAS THE @#$%& AWESOMEEST THING EVER HE WAS HONESTLY 4 FEET IN FRONT OF ME IT WAS THE @#$%& BEST THING EVER. Honestly that was the best concert I will ever see in my life. Flea was back and rockin as hard as ever...definatley a lot more funk/old style flea then the previous two concerts i had been to during the BTW tour. Chad was @#$%& rockin out on the drums. Anthony and John's vocals both were at the top of their game. John kicked ass on the guitar like always. The whole experience was awesome especially with all the beautiful women. The solos kicked ass. I really hope somebody has auido for the whole show and hopefully video for the cant stop video when John was playing right in front of my face. Everyone on earth should see the Chili Peppers in concert before they die. I personally think John/Flea are the best combo on their instruments ever and that they can never be beat but thats my opinion and I know many might disagree. Damn I cant stop thinkin how awesome flea was on his bass. At the end when Flea came out on trumpet and John was playing along next to him it was a moment that i will never forget. I'll never forget that concert it was just great. I see some people here were close to John...are u talking about on the right where he played most of the time or on the left. I was on the left where he went for the can't stop intro and was wearing a lime green shirt so i probably stood out but whatever Im glad everyone had a @#$%& awesome time. All I gotta say is GET ON UP!!!!!

"...I went to both, and the Borgata was, by far, the best concert I've ever seen. I've been to quite a few, being a 36 year old lover of all sots of music....
As for Anthony - I think he just wants everything to be perfect & is focusing so much on giving us a great performance, that he has a hard time concentrating on anything else. Just my opinion - he will always be such a beautiful soul in my eyes.
I started out on the floor, pretty close, but am too short & could not deal with not being able to see them. I decided I'd rather be a bit farther away & get the whole view & be able to dance my ass off, so my husband & I went to the risers & sat in the single seats along the stairs, one in front of the other - pretty much then 2nd & 3rd rows I think. I think my husband was aggravated w/ me at first (he could see fine on the floor) - but then realized it was a good decision because the spot was perfect. The setting there is so awesome that I don't think any spot is really bad.
I left a gift for Anthony w/ the guys who were breaking down on stage after - I sooooooo hope they got it to him (2 of the guys said they'd make sure).
LBI Surfer w/ red hair - I think I was in front of you in line! Glad you had such a great time & got so close!!
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THEM TO TOUR!!!!!!! "

RHCP are garbage, and this is a totally pointless thread.

Yes, I saw Aerosmith and Lenny Kravitz at the Borgata Music Box a month ago, but the Stones will never play such a small venue (unless it's a surprise show that almost no-one knows about in advance, anyway), so there is no point to your thread.

Also, there is only one reference to the Borgata as a venue in your long, boring, Chili Pepper ass-kissing post, and all it says is that the "setting there is so awesome." Wow, what insight!

Can't you find an RHCP fan board to post this crap on, instead of wasting space here? I am aware that you are an insufferable know-it-all, but I still think your time would be better spent there than here.

Maybe YOU don't see a point to discussing a major new venue... let's see, the Chili Peppers are playing there, Aerosmith... it's without any question the sleekest venue in Atlantic City...

SO, if you don't see a point, WHY DO YOU WASTE YOUR TIME POSTING ???

I'm reading one great review after the other about the place...

Apparently you're having a different experience...

"Long, boring, ass-kissing..."

You're full of insults... you get frustrated, you can't express yourself, some sort of rage builds up in you and all you can do is stammer out a line of insults...

You must be alot of fun to hang out with!

It's marked OT Sh*thead...

There are posts on this board about just about every band you can imagine... from Springsteen to Dylan to Neil Young to the MONKEES of all bands...

If you can't handle it, get off the board !!!

Let's see if you've posted an insulting flame on the Monkees thread....

"Insufferable know-it-all..."

And that would make you, what ???

They were rumoured to play the Borgata on October 8th, before settling on Durham.

Rumored to play a 3700-seat venue before "settling on" a 38,000-seat stadium? Sounds like a fairly spurious rumor to me.

Well, post THOSE, then, instead of sycophantic sh*t about the Chili Peppers.

I know...

I just can't explain Treesnake's "eruptions"... he seems very hostile and I suppose that's why his posts are so incoherent...

There are MAJOR BANDS playing the Borgata now... Bob Dylan, the Allman Brothers, Santana, Deep Purple, Pearl Jam, Stevie Nicks, Robert Plant, Yes, Alicia Keys, Elvis Costello, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Billy Idol, the Black Crowes, Sting, just to name a few...

Now, whether you like all these bands is one thing, but I find it a very impressive list for a relatively new venue...

They had originally planned to play some small shows in 2005.
September 17 - Beacon Theatre, New York
October 8 - Borgata Casino, AC
November 8 - Hollywood Palladium, LA

[iorr.org]

Jul 17: Beacon theatre show replaced by rumoured show in Albany, NY.
Borgata theatre show replaced by rumoured show at Duke University NC.

Again... listen to yourself...

"sycophantic sh*t..."

One hostile remark after the other...

I'll post what I want... I'm frankly AMAZED that you're stalking the thread...

Do you have any friends ?

I see, Erik, but that's not my point. It may have been posted on IORR, but the fact that ALL theater show rumors after Toronto were baseless demonstrates that the Stones had no intention of playing ANY theater shows on the tour. Hence, discussions of the Borgata are irrelevant.

It is OK to post anything "irrelevant" as long as there is an "OT (=off topic) in the header, and as long as it doesn't offend anyone.

Thanks for the warning, officer. I don't know how the internets work. You might want to advise BornOnTheBayou of this protocol, unless a 1970s MILF thread is sufficiently Stones-related not to merit an OT header.

Also, this thread DOES offend me, because the Chili Peppers are terrible, in addition to being sell-outs.
