Welcome to NY '72

I am the only one that thinks it's the best bootleg out there.
I particularly love Bye Bye Johnny where Keith starts with one of the best intro I've ever heard after the band is introduced.
Is there an extended version of the concert? I have the Swinging Pig version with about 8 songs on it (signed by MT!).

Right, some good interpretations, but I don't like the sound, it is somewhat like in a livingroom, I guess that the tape is from the stage monitor of Mick Jagger, no live feeling, great version of "Love in Vain" though. I know the SWP edition only.

Is It the one recorded in July 72 MSG from The Swingin' Pig Records . Yes, there are great versions of Bye, bye, Love in vain and Sweet Virginia. But goin'back to other posts, Brussel Affairs 1973 is, well, miles above to my opinion.

sound stinks for a soundboard...and in a later release, the Pig put "no-noise" on it which even further stunk it up. good performances, but it's about a 6.5 sound-wise.

Yeah the sound sucks, but it kind of feels authentic.
Brussels Affair is a great bootleg, but WTNY is still my favorite. Amazing solo by MT on YCAGWYW.
Brussels has some amazing jewels too though.
What a difference with Live Licks...

I never heard before of WTNY. What do that stand for ? I have to look for it.

IMO it's the boot that captures best the Stones in 1972. No bs, just music and pure energy.

i'll take any soundboard from the '72 tour....this is a "ghost" audience board recording....they always sound strange to me without the audience....but the stereo sound is fun....sit between your speakers, crank it up and listen to Mick T. and Keith at work.........only dissapointment is the missing tunes from that show.....but this is a historic Stones boot....been around for a long time in the bootleg world.....love the original "cavemen" artwork drawn by William Stout (the bootleg artist for the Swingin' Pig Label)

it was one of the first vinyl boots I owned back "in the day." Love the artwork!

The artwork is fantastic. Mick Taylor signed me a copy when I met him in Paris. Precious memorabilia.

The best Stones bootleg ever, IMHO... and if you want to hear the rest of the show, there are two audience sources available.

Back in the 70's this was my first vinyl boot.
I think i got it from one of those advertisers in the back of Rolling Stone magazine.
White record sleeve with a pink paper insert with the cover artwork.
No idea where my vinyl is today and haven't heard the recording in 25 years or so.
Wasn't this July 26, 1972 - Jaggers's 29th birthday??

there was a second release (tmoq-02/003) of wtny a few years ago, which
contains the complete? show, except track 15 (sfm) which is from the day before.
but unfortunately they added only a good audience recording from the
missing tracks to the soundboard release. great artwork - fold-out cover
with the original wtny drawing on front and cool pics from mick & keith inside.

tracklist is:
intro / brown sugar
bitch
rocks off
gimme shelter
happy
tumbling dice
all down the line
you can't always get what you want
midnight rambler
band intro / bye bye johnny
rip this joint
love in vain
sweet virginia
jumpin' jack flash
street fighting man

Why can't you answer the simple question what does WTNY stand for?? You shitheads. I'm guessing it's welcome to new york. Wouldn't have killed you to answer would it?

So how is it? I have bought this boot in 1994 or so on a CD in France.
Swingin' pig it was. But when it gets really awesome, in the middle of JJF
the tape stops.
I once downloaded this boot again. It then contained a completed version of JJF
& Satisfaction as well. Is that a different thing from what I bought years ago?
