Is this out of print? Was it ever on DVD? Didn't see it on Amazon. Is it time for an update? "4x40"?

I think I have a VHS copy somewhere in my basement. I'll have to dig it out. Always thought they scooted through the late 70s stuff too fast. Would have liked to see more Some Girls era footage.

Hey Chas, I have that on VHS too. Sadly, my vcr is on it's last legs I think. Yeah, they went way too fast with the 70's footage imo. They should have more. And why is it that the Beatles can have a 10 dvd (I believe it's 10) anthology but the Stones only get, what, a 2 hour video tape on their storied career??? That ain't right! We need an updated history collection and fast! smiling smiley

Maybe they're waiting for the 50th anniversary to update. I'd divide an anthology into 4 eras: 64-67, 68-74, 75-86, 89-present

Yeah, somebody needs to get on this. Maybe someone could suggest it to Martin Scorsese. He did that Dylan documentary No Direction Home, as well as an episode of
The Blues, an excellent series on the birth of the blues. I'll bet he is a Stones fan.

Scorsese would be a good choice...or the two guys who did the Beatles Anthology

Scorcese is a HUGE Stones fan!!

His first movie: "Meanstreets" has Jumping Jack Flash as soundtrack!

I played 25x5 recently to educate my boyfriend. I hadn't seen it in quite a few years. Its funny to watch because I remember watching it at the time it came out and thinking they looked SO OLD! And watching it now, I think, Hey, they were looking pretty good!

That video was the first time I had ever heard Brian speak. I love the clip where the stage hand is trying to take Keith's guitar, but he's still got the strap on, so it's pulling Keith too. Brian just starts cracking up at that and has the wickedest laugh.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

GREAT documentary. I agree it could have been longer but for what it was (a solid 2 hour block of Stones history) it was nearly perfect.

And wasn't Can't You Hear Me Knocking in Casino, or am I imagining that?

Monkey Man is played during a crucial scene of Goodfellas. Yup, Scorcese loves the Stones.

Goodfellas is actually on right now! Holy shit! Gimme Shelter is being played too!

Scorsese spent half his budget for Mean Streets on Two Stones songs, JJF and Tell Me, ironically it almost prevented him from making the movie because he was running out of money.

Can't You Hear Me Knocking is used Casino, along with Gimme Shelter, Sweet Virginia, and Satisfaction.

GoodFellas uses Monkey Man, Memo From Turner, and Gimme Shelter.

No other filmmaker has used the Stones as much as Scorsese. And of course Scorsese was an editor involved wtih taking the hundreds of hours of footage shot for the original Woodstock and turning it into a movie, no Stones. He also directed The Last Waltz, the doc/ concert film about The Band.
So if he did a film on The Stones, they'd both do well by it, that's my guess.
