I think Yousendit is getting a little pissed because this sucks up their bandwith. It was meant to send files through e-mail. Not 50 people download 1 file.

Just get some proper hosting if you're that eager to share stuff...

Yes well you must understand that things like these mess up nice things like these. It's a nice offer: it allows you to e-mail really big files without charge. And what do people do? Exploit it like this...

Shame...

I fail to understand why people dont giveup this type of upload/download and just get on the bittorrent bandwagon.

I think yousendit is probably happy we are using their service so much. The more hits they get, the more they make in ad revenue. They aren't providing the service out of the goodness of their hearts.

Do you realize the ammount of bandwith it takes to have multiple people download this file? It doesn't come near the income of advertisements.

It's not a free file hosting service, it's an e-mail service.

If you want to share your stuff there's 2 things you can do:

Use Bittorrent.

Buy your own webhosting for a buck or two a month.

Reptile, what you are saying is not quite correct.
Yousendit.com is not an email service, it is there to temporarly provide space for files. I don't think they have a bandwith problem, after 25 downloads the link is not valid any more...

Drake, for some people like me it's not possible to use Bit Torrent because it gets blocked by the university. Others are just not so much into computers and can't figure out how it works. And others again just want some new songs, not a complete new album...

Nonsense. Check Yousendit.com and you will see it works by entering a receiver's e-mail adress, who will then receive a link from which they can download a file. One person. It's NOT a place to temporarely host big files for public use.

Ah, come on! The files are on their server for a limited period of time and for 25 downloads. They calculated their bandwith based on these parameters!
It's another possiblitly of filesharing, it's up to everyone how to use it!
There is absolutely no need to feel ashame to use it, the only problem is that it's of limited usefulness as it's limited to 25 downloads.

www.yourfilehost.com is another possiblity - but there the files are limited to 50MB.
