The Beatles if you buy all the hype.

The Stones if you just go by the music.

...sounds like you're blaming the Stones for all the garbage that's out today.

most people could name more Beatles songs (and probably be able to sing them) than Stones songs...
can't believe people think the Stones win this question ! ??

Beatles hands down.

That is total nonsense. The Comish disapproves of this rhetoric.

The Stones for sure. They have been much bigger influences on the music, movie, and fashion culture.
I think their true genius will be recognized more when we are all long gone, unfortunately....when the focus is just the rock and roll and not so much the sex and drugs.

you gotta love the stones maniacs' desperate attempts to defend an indefensible position

My 13 year old received a chain email asking to answer personal preferences about herself, which I found kind of interesting. One of the questions was "the Beatles or the Stones". She answered "the Stones" but was appalled that out of the 6 kids that had answered before her, only 2 had chose the Stones. The other 4 had replied "who are the Beatles/Stones"

at 13 if someone had asked you - goodman or glenn miller? - how would you have answered?

Actually, its immeasurable when Oldies Stations persistently show favoritism to the Beatles. It's unbelievable. For example, "Beatles Brunch". The Stones simply span more years.

Michelle and 8 days a Week, is enough to make even the Comish resort to drink.

League Office

Well, yeah, radio stations most often play "safe" music, and the Beatles have always been alot safer

Who are they? lol

I understand what you are saying, but I don't think goodman or miller came close to having the influence of the Beatles or Stones and I think they were long gone before I was born.

...we'll see how big the Stones current influence is on today's music, after georgelicks has counted the total sales of the live remasters on the fingers of just one hand.

I see mickscarey is full of knowitallism. It's one thing to be a Stones fan - it's another to understand reality.

I think some of you have invested so much in the Stones, so much time and money and energy, that if someone was to say to you that a certain band was more influential or better or whatever than your precious Stones, your whole world would collapse.

They probably knew Spice Girls, Sugababes etc. better than Stones / Beatles - but does that mean anything!!

Beatles is easy going pop music that impossibly could anger someone. It's easier to listen to it from the casual radio listeners point of view than a lot of Stones material.

Perhaps on pop music, but not on rock music.

It's hard to understand that an adult actually could listen through a whole Beatles album in order to get a musical experience. Their lyrics are incredibly immature.

This does'nt seem immature:
You say you want a revolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright alright

You say you got a real solution
Well you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well you know
We're doing what we can
But when you want money for people with minds that hate
All i can tell you is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright alright

You say you'll change the constitution
Well you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well you know
You better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of chairman mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know know it's gonna be alright
Alright alright
