Of these 2 new songs forty licks which do you prefer or think better? Do you think either is VERY good? Quality addition to their extensive catalogue or both / either could do without / throwaway?? MEZ
Yes I forgot to state my thoughts. Keys to your love more original type while Stealing heart any standard type direct "dime a dozen" sounding basic tune altough its alright also. Keys to Love a lot better I think.
"Keys to Your Love" is one of the strongest ballads of the Stones. I never understood the bad reviews of the new songs on "Licks". The new four songs were a great promise for the next album, and ABB fullfills it. It is simply great.
Neither of these songs break any new ground, they are passable, nothing amazing. However I prefer 'Stealing my heart' because of the Slide guitar solo, I love it! It's a long solo, pretty simple but effective, with charlie's drumming as well.
I remember being at a pub near here, and I put 'stealing my heart' on, as the pub had 40 licks on the jukebox, and all my friends gave me Shit, saying this was the worst song on the album!
Don't Stop is good but not great, but I can't stand the other three new songs on this album. I forgot to list them in the "worst songs by the Stones' thread. To me they have not had a decent ballad since Out of Tears. Oh wait, also This Place Is Empty. Most others from '89 and up I don't like, though. Slipping Away would be another exception.
It was the one reason I dreaded them making a new album .
I'm pleasantly suprised by ABB. Not perfect by any measure,but more than anyone could expect at this stage of the game.
it would of been better like this;
Oh no not you again It won't take long Streets of love Rain fell down She Saw Me Coming Rough Justice Dangerous Beauty Laugh I nearly died Look what the cat dragged in This place is emrty Driving too fast
"Keys To Your Love" is one the most under-rated songs recorded by the Stones.I love it. Just wish the boys would release the rest of the songs from the sessions that produced it. Chuck Leavell mentions the song by Keith (from the same sessions)called "Smooth 180" as being a fun track that he hopes will one day be released....what else could be left-over?

Too funny ohnonotyouagain. You are not the only one who has conveniently "forgotten" these 3 other tunes.
Don't Stop is my fave from the Licks sessions because of the guitars, especially Ronnie's. Stealing My Heart comes in second. I think it's a solid and rocking album track, and if it was on ABB, it would be in the top 3. Keys To Your Love, another excursion in falsetto, is pleasant as well with this great acoustic guitar part. Were it on ABB, it would be in the top 6. Losing My Touch is somewhat out of place on Forty Licks, but since having listened to This Place Is Empty, I prefer it over the latter, but not over You Got It Infamy. Instead of these 4, unfortunately there are long stretches of monotony on ABB.
