I think the vocal on the proms of Far Away Eyes & Angie are better than the cd cuts, Love live vocals on proms should do them still.

Sorry to ask but what LIND means ? Don't get the point .

Laugh I Nearly Died is a great example of why the Stones will very likely never record a fully satisfying song/performance again because Mick's voice has completely lost its delicate touch as it has got lower with age. Just listen to the Sticky Fingers version of Wild Horses - he doesn't sing like that any more.

Not so sure Edward T. He still has that great mid range where he can drag notes out and they sound so good. Like on all those "Winter" and "Through The Lonely Nights" parts. I saw someone had mentioned "Old Habits " earlier. That is actually a very good Jagger vocal; right in that range. And on his solo albums. Like it or not - on GITD Jagger does "Too Far Gone" and "Brand New Set", which are very good vocals, and IMO sound very true. Or even "Under the Radar" - one of the biggest head scratchers since "Precious Love".
But what I can't bear is when he consciously seems to be going for his emtional style. Like LIND; that "I care about the state of the world" quiver...
And as good as the BU vocals are - it is another example to me how much better this album would have been as a band performance. Can you imagine a whole stack of BU vocalists chanting that?

Is that an answer to SwayStones' question, or to my previous post addressed to you Edward T.?
Which,I got to say, was intended with much respect to you.

It's me this time Palace Revolution. Mick's voice is lower and more nasally than it was in his youth, and i just prefer his vocals up to and including Tattoo You when he sounded a little younger and fresher (and not as low). I think his voice irritates over repeated listens these days, whereas in his youth his voice didn't. Maybe because his voice is lower and nasally he tends to sound like he's over accentuating and lacks that light touch he had on tracks like Winter. Laugh I Nearly Died was a pretty good effort generally, but vocally i can't stand it in places, especially as the song grows through the verses, and Jagger's voice becomes ever more heavy and overaccentuated. In his youth he'd have sounded very different singing Laugh I Nearly Died.

Very hard to tell which songs!

There are so many ...

I like his young voice on Out of our Heads and Aftermath

IMO his voice was better during the 1973-1978 era , he was at the top on # like :

-Hey Negrita
-Hand of fate
-Some Girls
-Far Away eyes

I also like his voice on "God gave me everything i want"winking smiley

Don't really care for the song but his vocal on "Fight" I think is excellent.

"One hit" is a great vocal performance as well me finks. His voice on "Angie" is also first class. But everything about that song is to me even though I know many around these parts think otherwise.

"Sympathy", YGMR to mention some more....

"Angie" is a good vocal track. I kind of like the Jagger "Angie" version of the Symphony Stones album too.

Been list'nin to Black and Blue a lot lately:
1976... plus 1981... is underrated years for his song efforts imho.

Well, I'm late to this thread...

I like a lot of Mick's singing -- most of my favorite examples have been mentioned here, but there's one more I'll throw out there, since no one has.

As a whole song, it may not compete with some of the others, but there is about 15 seconds of "Sway" that is untouchable...possibly my favorte Mick moment...

And with sssoul: you are so right about the rhythm thing --

The one song where Jagger puts it all together as a singer - moving from delicate, brooding and reflective to absolutely ferocious...outraged and merciless...and back...the one song where he leaves every other rock and roll singer on God's good earth behind forever is...You Can't Always Get What You Want.

Rock and Roll singing as revelation...on this song Jagger is a prophet.
