Hi,
I've just downloaded the show on DAD.
to those who were there, what happened on Satisfaction ?
Keith played the intro of It's only r'n'roll and Mick sang Satisfaction.
Man, it sounds horrible....

the only excuse could be that the monitoring system was damaged.
or a high use of drugs :-)

thats really live "the best garage band " ever

the spiegel (newspaper) cant claim that the stones play playback.

Oh my god, heard the song too. And Keith's playing is so bad !! Worst version I've heard.

what is surprising is that it took Keith 1 minute to realize and then to start playing the famous riff
did Mick and Keith quarrel just before the show ? and then Keith promised Mick a good joke on stage

I think what happened is that since it is very rare for them to play either satisifcation or its only rock and roll they ended up messing it up. I bet if they played it more often it would have gone smoothly.

satisfaction has a very complex riff :-)
its not in every musicians ability to play da da dadadaaa

this has already been clarified in another thread, folks:
IORR is what was on the set list. Mick screwed up,
and everyone but Keith decided to follow Mick.
Keith finally gave in too; Mick gave him a visible "sorry".

"What do you want - what?!"
- Keith

in the mad rush to wild conjectures :E

Fact is Keith @#$%& up: lots of first hand accounts of the Plexiglass setlist to be found on the net. I'm sure a scan of a paper setlist will pop up soon.

Judging by the recording: I think this was a bad concert, musically (perhaps the rock 'show' was good), especially for Keith! My god, he @#$%& up so much, it must have been his hand or some truly bad drugs.

The Its Only Satisfaction debacle is horrifying. How on earth???? Also the JJF ending is terrible. To be honest, almost every song sucks imo. It's sounds like they want to go home asap.

I seriously doubt I'd be happy if I'd paid 300 bucks to see such a show.

Oh, come on guys. It's kind of funny really. I was expecting something really awful--it's not that bad. I've heard alot worse than this. If I was at the show, I may have been confused for the first minute or so, but they pulled it off in the end. Give 'em a break!!

"Keith played the intro of It's only r'n'roll and Mick sang Satisfaction. Man, it sounds horrible...."

Exaggerations, Stonesfan... Something like that can happen to to every band, even to the Stones, two times out 150 or 200. To me it's not a tragedy. That reminds me of Prague, 2003: Keith started "Midnight Rambler" with the riffs of Tumbling Dice. Just funny, "errare humanum est"...

wisertime says: "And listen to the JJF version !! Keith can't play anymore !!"

Exaggeration, no2. Are we "discovering" that "Keith can't play anymore" after so many shows on this tour ?? Yesterday was another Keith, another guitarist?

No, rather I think that there was a lot of understandable elation as the tour began: it's an event, the new album's ok, the set looks great, mick is still running around. But now people that's died down and people are listening more closely. And maybe keith is getting tired already. He was barely hanging on in what I heard of the later Licks shows, though he seemed in control at the show I attended.

OK I am a fan since 1964. I have seen the Stones on numerous occasions throughout the years. I have been at Hartford, Giants Stadium, Albany, Hershey and the Philly 1 show this time around. I was in Section 115 Row 18 for the Philly show. Keiths side close to the stage. I was looking foward to this show for a while because I know that the Philly crowd is a great one. What started out as a show with so much promise ended in disappointment for me.

Upon futher reflection over the last couple of days I have come to the conclusion that this was the poorest Stones show I have ever seen. Yes there were absolute high points - The opening sound of Start Me Up was the best I have ever come across. SFTD outstanding.

Also, just one little tidbit - once Mick introduces everyone and Keith was talking to the audience Mick was standing talking to Charlie for a while. Mick was talking and Charlie listening. Mick seemed quite animated at this point from where I was standing.

What happened at the end of the show left me and others around me just shaking our collective heads. First of all we are paying top $ for the tickets but putting that fact aside what if this was your only show. You just lost the opportunity to hear one of the greatest rock song openings for the last 40 years and you will not probably going to get the opportunith to hear it again. (I am talking about the average fan who will only see them once.) I can forgive technical problems (remember Giants Stadium - Could not hear the opening of Satisfaction) but this is something else again. I heard people just saying how could they mess up like that.

So I ask how did they mess up? What happened? Can we get a "journalist" the next time they are interviewing any of the Stones to ask them to explain what happened at Philly 1? Or do we continue to expect and almost encourage these types of mistakes. Do we just shrug it off and say it is the Stones?

Keith once said that the Stones have a lot to loose. He was talking about their position as the greatest Rock band in the world. Start getting the reputation for this type of major mistake and we will all loose so much.
