Grow up if you like and its available for you to buy that's all that matters and by the way its the arseholes here and on shidobbee that are the worst critics of the band.
I think people here care because they're our favorite band and we want to see them do well (at least I do). I have alot of friends that could care less about them and mention how irrelevant they are. It's always nice to brag that they're still the biggest band in the world and they've got the biggest tour and the number 1 (hopefully) album! If the Stones are the best, I'd like to see it reflected in total albums sold. I don't like the fact that the Eagles and Barbra Streisand have sold more albums in the States than the Stones have. Beatles and Zeppelin, okay, but not Streisand!
DGA35, where did you get this info that the above mentioned people have sold more albums than The Stones in the states? Zeppelin? Their whole catalog consists of what? eight albums?
RIAA.COM is the website for US sales. Hot Rocks is the biggest selling Stones album, 12 million sales. Zeppelin are at 107.5 million albums Streisand 70.5 million Aerosmith 65.5 million Stones 64.5 million
With this new CD, the Stones will leapfrog Aerosmith and AC/DC. Hopefully there will be an increased demand for their back catalog as well.
Zeppelin have the most albums with the Diamond status of 10 million or more sold in the US.
Zeppelin 4 22 million Phys Graf 15 million Zep 2 12 million Houses Holy 11 million Zep 1 10 million
Apparently Americans love Led Zeppelin, although I'm sure their album sales have done as well proportionally in Canada, too.
You're right T&A... these numbers don't mean shit to me. The Stones have become to big to be GREAT.. that's how many people think nowadays. Mick Jagger is a fag who can't really sing and Keith looks like a ghost who poses instead of playing the guitar. If you haven't dug into the Stones catalogue and know what they are about... you might think they are way overrated too. I consider us to be a lucky group of people... we know good music when we hear it.
(expect your opinion on some of the BB songs!!!! :-) )

phys graf, did 15 mil.. more than zep 2 ,,,graffitti didn't even have a hit single on it ,,whole lotta love was probly their biggest hit single,,dosen't look correct 2 me
Actually it is not a good criteria for the quality of the music, it shows only what people like more or less, what is their ability to evaluate good music like the Stones` or stniky fag noise like Elton John`s.
"phys graf, did 15 mil.. more than zep 2 ,,,graffitti didn't even have a hit single on it ,,whole lotta love was probly their biggest hit single,,dosen't look correct 2 me"
i thought Zeppelin never released 'any' singles ?
so how could they have hit ones ?
Physical Graffiti is easily their best album though
Hi Chippy. One thing I should have mentioned is that the RIAA and I believe all of the other countries counts a double album as 2 sold, since there's 2 discs. Therefore Physical is 15 times platinum but only 7.5 million people actually bought the disc, Hot Rocks 12 times platinum, 6 million actual buyers. Similar to how the 4 Flicks DVD is now 19 times platinum, which is easily the biggest selling music DVD ever. Platinum for a video is 100,000 sold in the States. Therefore, 475000 actual copies were sold. Stones should do some great sales with this current CD and back catalog over the next year or so.
It's a very diverse market these days. A number #1 album doesn't necessarily mean all that much anymore. When you look at the Stones total gross for concert tickets, cds, and other paraphenalia, they are still raking in bundles.
The Stones records haven't necessarily ever sold as well as fans might suspect, at least upon original release, but over time, and as a part of the total package, the Stones remain on the top of their game!
But really, if somebody is only buying the album or going to the concerts etc etc etc because everybody else is, thats kinda sad. In this sense it really doesn't matter, we're fans coz we love the band and their music, regardless of what others might think, or listen to.
But don't get me wrong..........
I'd be glad if they scored another number #1, for the Stones, and also coz I'd like to see/ hear more good classic rock music being played. All this other shit we hear on the radio etc these days is too much. In this sense, I'd like to see the boys carry the banner into the new century with another best selling rock album to show folks how it's done.
