Was Keith Richards the first one to carry a guitar the way he does now, almost down to his knees? In the 60's all the guitar players carried their piece up almost around the neck. Then in the 70's it went away down, with lots of style. Is keith the inventor of cool posturing with a guitar? It looks ten times better when the guitar is down although it is more difficult to play. But, hey you gonna look good too. Rock and Roll is about attitude!!

i read some place that he did it because it felt better to him.. easy...to hold..

I'm with liddas: I think Page was the first (or one of the first ones). In fact, if you see L&G, Keith hangs his guitar quite higher than nowadays. He began to hang it lower in 78 (or was it in 75?).

guitarists generally started slinging their guitars lower when concerts started lasting more than about half an hour (your arms start going numb after a while if it's up high). having it down about knee level, though, the way Keith had it with the New Barbarians - smile, yeah, that was special! i've been told it was kind of a Done Thing in punk circles around that time, no?
