Re: Jagger/Richards is on the new Macca album?

I like some songs on Flaming Pie very much, but the production (Jeff Lynne) did them no good. Also: McCartney sometimes in the past produced just to quickly. A little bit more work on arrangements would have been great.
Just compare "Jenny Wren" from the new album with "Great Day" from Flaming Pie. "Great Day" was probably recorded in ten minutes, maybe it´s the second or third take. "Jenny Wren" is also a quite simple song, but has some very nice chord progressions and arrangements - I think this shows that Macca has put more work into "Backyard".
He said in interviews that the producer Nigel Godrich (Radiohead etc.) sometimes insisted that Macca kept working on songs (nobody except maybe George Martin in the 60s) dared to tell him something like this before. I think that makes "Backyard" a special album. It´s not just something that Macca recorded in a quick rush, but maybe with some sweat.
I think the same goes for Bigger Bang. The Stones did not give some weaker tracks to various producers to dress them up (like Might As Well Get Juiced on Bridges), but really worked on the songs this time. Of course: There is no competition. In their league the only competition is their own past stuff. Maybe that´s the reason why Mick and Keith worked so close together this time.
