as you might find out, i play in a few bands.
mick in a stones cover band
bass in an ac dc cover band
guitar and vocals in my own band that does original material
and bass for my dad's blues band - the breakwater blues band

well, last night in port elgin (middle of nowehere rural ontario canada) we played a show that we were to open fpr Randy Bachman (Guitarist of the Guess WHo, and singer/ guitarist of Bachman Turner Overdrive - takin care of business fame).

well Randy Bachman wanted to leave early so he pulled a rock star fit and demanded to change set times with us. So it ended up Randy opened for us, what a great warm up act! haha

at the end of Randy's set he did a medley of covers, and one of which was Honkey Tonk Woman. sounded good, but it was his drummer who sang it, he just did a little guitar solo.

just thought i would pass this note along, as it seems i can't escape the stones anywhere that i go.

Was he playing stuff from his recent jazz release or the BTO/Guess Who material?

I like Randy's stories about how he took lessons from Canadian Jazz Icon Lenny Breau in Winnipeg.

I remember really enjoying the jazz tinged "Blue Collar" and "Looking out for #1" when they came out way back when.

To bd he acted this way, but it
seems to have worked out in your
favour. ;-)

I recall in his more humbler times,
after he left the Guess Who at their height,
he was camping in a tent at an outdoor site
near us, as he took Bravebelt on the road,
a misstep at first, but seems to have
ultimately paid off for him.

Let's give him credit -he's a pretty
good riffmeister, and "Undun" has to
be one of the most beautiful,
perhaps overlooked sixites
CanCon sixites rock
classics of them all.

I always loved Randy's guitar playing....very dinstinctive and raunchy sounding. It was great to see him and Burton Cummings and the festival in Toronto. One of the highlights of the DVD.
