To be honest I haven't got a Real Player downloaded because if anything spams your computer with advertising and if anything leads to windows shutting down it's that damn thing.

As soon as I'll find another player able to play .ra extensions I'll tell what I think... winking smiley

Hey Limbo... is real player seriously that bad?? I don't have much experience with it.. I downloaded it this morning, but it seems it wasn't the right choice.

Hmmmm. I don't like it if the little screen/timeline is surrounded by advertising.

But I need to say the last time I had it was on my Win 98 configuration where it caused that many shutdowns and used a lot of space so that I threw it out.

It probby works better now. I'll give it another try because iTunes is, at the moment, irritating the schijt out of me.

I don't really know Itunes either. You know what's kind of funny about real player? Compared to Winamp I can raise the volume to a much higher level. Seriously. Real player is much louder.. Is that technically possible?

also have probles with realplaer, all UDP ports are closed in my office network,
and I prefer to listen to my mp3 collection with Apollo
[koti.welho.com]
this player is 100% free of charge and spam, simple and sounds very good for a small program.

OK as promised... but from the amazon.com site that also runs win mp files winking smiley
[www.amazon.com]

Terrific! There are some very refreshing tunes in there... I like the inventive vocal loops and expirimental (vocal) speed-ups.

I know I never heard the whole record, but I'll tell ye we're gonna enjoy the full versions of ONNYA, LMDS, LWTCDI.

I also know it's too early to say the album's overkilling.

Which means it is also way too early to state that it could have done without "It won't take long", "Dangerous Beauty" and "Driving too fast", to make an equally strong record.

It's not too early to state we're gonna have a great time!!!

Thanks for the better link [www.amazon.com];
and on this one its also possible to "Listen To All":
istnt it possible btw by that function to
temporarily download the lot of the samples?

So, Limbo, ya didnt like It Won´t Take Long?
Personally (even if that particular sample feels very short)
it feels like one of my fav´s.
Lately (last hour) I´ve become sceptical to Biggest Mistake
and SSMC; they feel like outtakes from Goddes or maybe worse.

I'm impressed. Great samples of some really good tunes. I have a feeling that this new CD is going to be one of their greatest. There seems to be little filler material. The song samples seem less dense prduction-wise from Voodoo as we;;...not necessarily better or worse, just different...and I like it.

Re: A l l songs from A Bigger Bang....... (samples)!

SSMC seems to have an interesting vocal loop as I call it, can't quite explain, so I skipped it from my 'potentially obsolete' list... although it was there at first.

I like It Won't Take Long because I like the kind of music... but maybe, from the clips, it sounds as though there's nothing special or outstanding in those 30 secs (I know people will hate us for discussing songs this way lol). People here call it 'fillers'. They say that Voodoo Lounge was overkilled by them, although I never quite agreed for that particular record. This time there appears to be a bit of that overkilling. But you can't judge a book by the cover.

Biggest Mistake does seem to have a uniqueness in the whole of the record, although it might be a bit of a softy song, a Counting Crow-like song that you would have as theme to a Hugh Grant movie. But those songs can be nice too, as can be those movies.

Hey, typical, Richard just introduced the word 'filler' in this thread (as almost absent); while I was writing my post about them in response to the Baboon...

Well, Limbo you´re broadminded; that´s a good thing.
I have a very open mind for music but less open for people & opinions.
I´m sure Brown Sugar could have been called a filler 34 years ago if internet has existed at that point;
but I take your words as a warning: "Thou shalt not worship IWTL too much"...
A curious thing is that a Keith-tune/number is praised by (sofar) everyone
(TPIE)... !

The filler discussion is always a dubious one as different people will say an album is 'filled' in a different way! Like some say on VL "Brand New Car" was unneccessary, other say it could have done without "Mean Disposition" or "Sparks Will Fly".

This means that as all songs seem to have a meaning to someone somewhere, I won't take a position there. In general, I think that three or four comparable rockers with a steady beat, a snearing lyric and hard but weakly inspired guitar licks will tend to be described as "too much".

The Keith songs like TPIE are always charming in a Paolo Conte way, like the piano player at your hotel bar whose playing and personality you can't but love, otherwise you'd leave. They are touching for their charm arent they.

What do you think of the (variety of) the drumming?

Look What The Cat Dragged In seems to be the only "filler" on the album.

Nothing exciting to far biggest dissapointment Keiths songs, but lets wait and hear the whole album.

I tell you which one really cuts right to it for me is "Look what the cat dragged in". That guitar that answerrs the vox sounds like a machine gun burst.

Cat Dragged In has an INXS riff .

"Infamy" was the one that actually surprised and grabbed me first...love Jagger's harp playing on that funky little track. Very refreshing, I thought. I'd like to see more of this tone from them at this point--how about some grooves, not just crunching guitars? That stuff should be used a little more selectively.

Funny, though: Can't you just see them sequencing "This House Is Empty" at the end of the album and then pondering the "Emotional Rescue," "Dirty Work," "Steel Wheels," "Voodoo," ("Mean Dis." is a bonus) "B2B" and "Licks" pattern?

This way, they still give Keith the last word, but not on another smoky 2AM torch song...

Yeah, I thought Cat Dragged in had a INXS riff.

That's the understatement of the millenium. This is not meant as a criticims in the least - ALL NEW MUSIC is based on older music. Been that way since...oh, about the DAWN OF TIME.

"What do you think of the (variety of) the drumming?" aked Limbostone.
Sofar it sounds haevy & dynamic at the same time & that´s one of the reasons we get to think of EOMS.
Another reason for the latter - in particular (?) influencing the drumsound - is that its recorded in a locality thats n o t a studio.
I´d like to comment on the different damples but its way past bedtime here.
Someone else´s opinions on ABB:s drummin?
...Is Jagger´s drums audible?
