This doesn't seem fair - um I wonder which one I would rather see? The SF show is going to be over the top! and unfortunately I live in DC.

SF is always the place to be...

I went to high school with John Mayer and have known him since he was about 12 years old. I will hold myself back from saying bad things about him but he didn't make too many friends in high school and had the ego the size anyone I have ever personally known. The fact that he is going to open up for the Stones still amazes me but I would not bother to go in and watch him.

Metallica have a huge body of awesome work compiled over many years ... John Mayer, while his releases have been a bit on the light side for my tastes, is still a very good guitarist as evidenced by some of his live stuff.

Given the choice I'd see Metallica for sure, but I don't think John should be written off just yet ... I think he'll surprise as an opener for the Stones.
