Did the Stones Play at the Cow Palace in San Fran on June 26th 1976?

I was given an old concert poster that says just that with Specail guest the Doobie Brothers. (Price $4.75) I cannot find reference to it anywhere, and the the Tour list has them ending in Vienna june 23rd and then Playing Knobworth two months later on Aug 21st. Did they come back too the U.S. in that down time?

I am a little bewildered

No way. I think they had just finished their European tour and were still to do Knebworth. No dates outside of Europe in 76.

All these concert posters (Doors Dylan RHCP Nirvana) are bogus. There's an inventive guy in Paris who earns a nice living out of making them... smoking smiley

Dagger Thats what I thought, I beleive they played the cow palace July of 75

This poster looks legit its the old cardboard kind that would be incased in glass outside a particular Venue. It also looks aged 22" by 14"

It's not as bad as that poster advertising a Stones show in San Francisco in 1965 - which has a picture of the band above it which seems to have been taken in 1981. With Ronnie Wood.

I'm serious, Virgil - here it is. You can actually buy this online.

Another dead giveaway is the ticket price: $4.75? My recollection is that the face price for tickets on the '75 US tour were at least twice that.

I was there at Cow Palace for both shows. You are all correct:

1. The shows were definitely in 1975, not 1976.

2. Ticket prices were more like $8.50 each. (FYI, tickets for the Winterland, SF shows in 1972 were about $5.50 each).

3. Also, the Doobie Brothers did not open. I believe it was the Meters for both concerts.

yup, publicity photo from 1980"s Emotional Rescue to make a bogus poster. This one is always seen at flea markets/ fairs in the usa. I saw this piece of crap a few years back, and told the guy trying to sell it.

Then again, its not quite as big a faux pas as the guy who was selling a 'genuine' autographed copy of 'Let It Bleed' on e-bay a couple of years ago, which was 'signed' by the entire band - including Brian Jones.

He was looking about $1,500 for it.

And some idiot actually went and bid for it.
