Yes this is one of those days when I post a lot because I got nothing to do. I have a Q. What is the status of the infamous Hamburger Reeperbahn? Is it still what it always was? Or did it go the way of Giuliani's New York?
What cool motherfucking place, the Reeperbahn. When I lived in Hamburg it was a crazy place. And then I found an ancient record from soem weird looking guy. He didn't look German, more like Jud Hirsch from 'Taxi'. His name was Freddy. And he went "Junge komm bald wieder bald wieder nach Haus..." LOL
Man, I would KILL to have a recording of that song.

Now you asked a difficult one... I visited there 1987, I think. A tourist sightseeing place it was already then. But interesting place, though

I was there one evening last summer. Very short street actually, just a few blocks. Bars, sex bars, shops, sex shops and more bars. A big police station and a Hesburger restaurant (Hese is an Åbo-based company ). At a crossing stood a dozen young cute whores and offerd me "ein doppel". Didn't know what that was (anyone?) but I passed. Dressed in an ordinary pullover she looked like a happy girl next door. Didn't see any typical drug addicts strolling around. Nice place, nothing "dangerous" but worth a visit though I didn't noticing anything connected to the Beatles. There's this famous photo of John in a doorway on Reeperbahn but I didn't find any similar doorway. It was anyway exiting to be at the very same block we've read about so many times.

Don't know the street slang in Germany, but I guess "ein doppel" is sex with two girls...perhaps some specialists can tell us for sure what it is

I believe that's the answer to Chelsea's question of Reeperbahn's status: it's ein doppel. Should summon things up nicely. In other words it's probably still what it always was.
