If yes: I would love to see one. Maybe you can post a pic.

They FINALLY put an ad in the paper for the Detroit show which has been selling poorly. Usually they start off with a full page before the on-sale but not so this time. The ad they ran is about 1/4 page but is to scale for a full page. It shows the Stones logo with baseball stitching on the tongue and the header: "It's Not Just A Concert, It's the ROLLING STONES On Stage."

I haven't seen any posters in the street, but there have been print ads. Today's New York Times has a full-page ad for the Madison Square Garden show in September. And on the side of a building on the north side of Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, I recently saw a huge tongue with the words "Coming Soon" beneath.

The local left wing rag ran a full page add before the Saturday sales date. Black and white with The Rolling Stones "On Stage" title. No baseball stitching as the show is not in a baseball park but rather in a basketball arena. Large red tongue logo only. This was possibly the lamest one for a tour I have yet to see from the Stones. I hope the new record shows a bit more imagination than what I,ve seen so far.

"This was possibly the lamest one for a tour I have yet to see from the Stones. "

I have to agree. They've just put shirts on sale at the rs.com site with the baseball tongue. Perhaps it's a good thing as they are focusing on music rather than micro-managing every aspect of the tour.

Posters in the street? Who in the streets can afford these tix prices? They'll do better to put the posters in the waiting room of Wall Street brokers' offices, cosmetic surgeries, and The First Class lounges of all airlines!

Sorry man, this is the states. If they put the posters in the street you would have to dodge the traffic.

Hi folks,

1. if the ticket selling is doing well, than you do not have to make any further advertising by putting posters in the street....
Remember Voodoo Lounge ?
The whole ticket selling lasted just one week in Dezember..
Than you did not see or hear anything about the tour until the end of May...
when I saw a poster here and there from time to time...talking about the german shows.

2. maybe the Stones just publish little posters because they want to wait till the new album will be out....by putting new posters with the name of the new album on it..
Something like:
The Rolling Stones....LIVE ONSTAGE with their "SHOWDOWN" tour in the US 2005.
This could be about August..so still enough time to make advertising as the tour is realy starting in September....

See you on the tour

I saw about 5 in a row tacked to a wall on 10th Avenue and 35th street in NYC...we were going to a U2 concert at MSG. I told my buddy that if I could get it off the wooden wall without ripping it, I would take it. However, this was right around the corner from a police station, and we were drinking in the car early (5 PM), we got so spooked with cops on the block on horseback, foot, cars, scooters, that being paranoid for getting busted (pot), we bailed out to the Blarney Stone on 8th Ave next to the Garden.

I hope I see as little as possible of a BASEBALL/Stones association. What a lame lame visual!
What happened to "I'm black and blue by the Rolling Stones and I love it!"
Or at least the tongue with a spike driven through it.

" R,the free press DID have the whole page ad just before tix went on sale,i've got it hanging up right now..............."

Really? Sh*t. I missed it obviously. I like to save those and frame them when the shows are particularly memorable. I have the SarsStock full page on the wall next to me as I type this ("tickets only $16US"). Was it the same ad with the cheesy baseball tongue?
