If you were only to buy one record this year...

... and you were prohibited to buy a Stones- or a Gram Parsons/Burrito-record.
Try John Holm. Really, if you´re into Gram, this it the future for you...
And an interest that shouldnt empty all your accounts... The man has done no more than five (5) albums since 1972. I also would dare to say if you like Angie & the more sentiment ballad type of Stones songs you´re gonna like this!

Trust me, "Sordin" above, from 1972, the debut album, is one of the best rock albums in the world.
Holm is a very shy person, more like Garbo than Garbo herself.
He stayed off the rock business between 1978 and 1985 as well as most of the 90´s.

Holm released from Calif. prison, in 1998 (left, pic S Ringström). Stones aint the only ones with time-traces in their faces... (right)

Why this, now? "Sordin" is a summer album.
The word "cult" has been overused in music business, but this is it. Cult.

...And on torrent reactor you can rake in his whole box...
Its just that that for me it takes some two weeks to load the sh*t.
If you have the fastest broadband there is I can imagine you may have
4-5 fresh Holm-cd:s before tomorrow.
...Please tell me your opinions after you´ve heard it: because I guess there are a few (hundreds?) of you that havent heard about this artist before...

BB, I'll have to check this out on your recommendation. I'm currently into a blues/soul singer named Ellis Hooks. Give him a try.

Hi Elmo! Checkin´ out Ellis Hooks at the moment (I´ll return with my impressions)
; on the same time I´m looking for Holm-samples.

At [digital.skivhugget.se]# you can listen to samples all the 18 songs on his Greatest Hits-album Guldkorn (=Gold nuggets)... OK, short samples, but anyway: (Recommendations: Maria, många mil och år från här; Svarte Kungen; Sommaräng; Får man leva för det?[a REAL goosebumper]; Om den blå himlen; Den öde stranden [his best imho]; Din bäste vän: Yeah, you could say all the songs 3-11 (and 1) is very audible!
And on [digital.skivhugget.se] his last album in the 70´s Veckans Affärer (=Weekly Business), listen to the title track and "Man har blivit smått blasé" and "Memoria".

...And on [www.mp3search.ru] you can listen to Elmo´s recommendation Ellis Hooks´ new album Uncomplicated & download for 10 cent a song... Elmo: it sounds real good, more later.

Tell us more about Beck´s new album!

His latest, Guero, marks the first time in Beck's career where he has looked back. It is effectively a sequel to the nine-year-old Odelay, re-teaming Beck with that album's producers, the Dust Brothers, and introduced by a single, "E-Pro," which sounds a hell of a lot like "Devil's Haircut." Some of the critics have lamented this less blindingly original turn. But dismiss Guero at your own peril; it just might be the strongest album of Beck's career.

If you like Odelay you'll love this new one
Returning to Odelay form, Guero is also more radio-friendly than any of the intervening albums, so don't be surprised if Beck joins fellow 90s rock vets Green Day in re-conquering MTV and the airwaves. He's got plenty of weapons to choose from—"Qué Onda Guero," the pure pop gold of "Girl," the sample-happy falsetto-fronted "Earthquake Weather

Beck switches gears seamlessly from ballad to club chill-out to light funk and back again in Guero's first half, which admittedly can sometimes produce a confused aftertaste. But that doesn't mean the album still can't be brilliant. The track "Earthquake Weather," for example, features a talent only few musicians can achieve: the ability to write a dance-ready track using mostly a Wurlitzer piano and acoustic guitar. It helps to have a few turntable effects, a tight beat plus a few horns here and there, but at its core "Weather" is still the product of a one man band
