Here ya go michrud....Baboon bro posted 'em a few pages back.

Here I stand before you
Waiting to be kissed
You’re a beauty
Such a cutie
How could I resist?

It[’s] been a month this Sundays
Since we last spoke
So much water
(Groovy daughters?)
I fell out the boat

Oh, no, not you again
F*cking up my life
It was better first time around,
I can’t stand it twice

Oh, no, not you again
I can’t stand the pain
Once bitten and twice shy
Fetch it out again

The setting’s so romantic
Love is in the air
Always hurt me
I’m allergic
To your bourbon stare

You look so cool and tempting
In your couture dress
All (enigmas?) on the tele
Mothers I confess [“confess” rhymes, but he must be saying “mothers I can f*ck”]

Oh, no, not you again
Messing up my life
It wasn’t too bad the first time
(But hear me out wife)

Oh, no, not you again
You’re here to hear the show [seriously?]
It was better the first time around
When you turned me inside out

[solo]

Everybody’s talking
Showing off their wit
The moon is yellow
I’m like jello
Staring down your tits

My flash is forward
The other flash is back
I’m dreaming
And still scheming
Get me off the block [back/block?]

Oh, no, not you again,
I can’t stand the pain
It was better the first time
Let me out again

Oh, no, not you again
F*cking up my life
It was better first time around
I can’t stand it twice

Oh no, not you again
I can’t stand the pain
It was better first time around
I get tears again

Oh no

LOL!!!

No age racism (etc.) here, but I just find it hmmm... funny hearing sixtysomethings granddaddies shouting out words as "f uck" and "tits" here and there... very sexy and daring, huh?

In some ways, yes - but not when you're writing lyrics that one would expect to hear from a 16 year old, not a 61 year old.

"youre a beauty/such a cutie" -- what year is this..1958? I mean, come on. And that cliched "moon is yellow/I'm like jello" line is straight out of the cheesiest rhyming dictionary imaginable. That particular verse beats the "sharks will cry" one on Voodoo Lounge for the worst rhyming couplet in the band's history.

Like I said, I liked the tune, but I really hope they rewrite the lyrics!

The lyrics above were kind of a mock up, but in some ways better than what is reported to be the real thing:

Oh No Not You Again
(Jagger/Richards?)

Here I stand before you waiting to be kissed
You're a beauty, such a cutie--how could I resist?
Its been a month this Sunday since we last had spoke
So much water, you couldn't douse us, I fell out of the boat

Oh no not you again @#$%& up my life
It was bad the first time around, I can't stand it twice
Oh no not you again, I can't stand the pain
Once bitten twice shy, you put me out again

It sounds so romantic, love is in the air
All was perfect, I was allergic from the very first stare
You look so cool and tempting in your couture dress
I get excited, I get aroused I was dying to confess

Oh no not you again messing up my life
It was bad the first time, get out of my life
Oh no not you again, I begin to shout
It was bad the first time you turned me inside out

Everybody's talking, showing off their wit
The moon is yellow, I'm like Jello staring at your tits
My life flashes forward and then it rushes back
Am I dreaming? Am I screaming get me off the rack?

Oh no not you again, I can't stand the pain
It was bad the first time let me out of the cage
Oh no not you again @#$%& up my life
It was bad the first time around, I can't stand it twice
Oh no not you again, I can't stand the pain
It was bad the first time around, I can't see your face

It is also possible he was singing alternative lyrics at the PC. I did not re-check to see whether these are closer to the PC version.

Thank you, Smokey. What I copied & pasted from RO was the result at a given point. Our Gigantic Stones Common World Brain has worked since then. That´s also why I didnt want to repost the older work-in-progress version, but just posted the link (Rockman took the the older vesrion in here one minut after my posting).

To Gazza. I´m not gotta defend the lyrics. Of course its nonsensical. But I think its unfair to compare with the poetry-like lyrics of Dylan or sociorealism of Springsteen which you might. Here its the Stones or Mr. Berry which is the reference (or 50´s blues). Modern contributions to gender debate or such things would not be expected in such a rock'n'roll-ish tune.

Some comparisons: "Sweet little sixteen
She’s got the grown up blues
Tight dress and lipstick
She’s sportin’ high heal shoes
Oh, but tomorrow morning
She’ll have to chang her trend
And be sweet sixteen
And back in class again"("Sweet Little Sixteen")

"The cadillac pulled up ahead of the ford,
The ford got hot and wouldn’t do no more.
It then got clody and it started to rain,
I tooted my horn for a passin’ lead
The rain water blowin’ all under my hood,
I knew that was doin’ my motor good." ("Maybellene")

Ok, its not 1958. But our boys are not that modern either, not in this sense. And thank God!

Jagger´s strength (Richards too, but to a much wider & distinct extent Jagger) is to set focus on the interatcion between text & lyrics. To a ballad he would write a complete different lyrics, to a gospel yet another etc. I like him best in Shine A Light, Satisfaction, Jivin´ Sister Fanny while playing & stuffing against the melody & the pace. I think to a certain degree this is also what he does in ONNYA. Thanks to his gift we sing ONNYA in the shower, we´re wailin & hummin & croonin lines from "Star Star", "100 Years Ago", "Let It Loose" etc etc in the car, when leavin kids at school, while in the pub etc etc etc. It do stuck. Its not the literaty quality that makes "givin head to Steve McQueen" or "I bet you keep your pussy clean" stick to our minds - its the vague but still gluey & catchy trademark or him that lay in the totality of lyrics & music... A n d the performance, often the Jaggeresque chicken dance but even more in his unique mock cockney blended with mock dixie talk & song, which makes him bleat "Staeve MacQueeiiin" & "pouzy cleeeeaaan"...

" ´ere I stand befowe ya waitin to be kissed
You're a beaaaaaautiiieeee, such a cutie--how cad I resist?
Eh been a month this Sundaaaeeey since we last had spoke
So much watewr, erh couldn't douwse us, I fell out of the boat

Oh no not you again @#$%& up my life
It was bad the first time around, e can't stand it twice"
----
Not to speak about what will happen when the American censors are discovering that the word @#$%& is in the song; they will ban it & it will increase even more in popularity just because of that. Big time.

The lyrics refer to several incidences, as usual, that the Stones have experienced, a mishmash of sorts.

Gaz, guess "what" the "moon is yellow/I'm like jello" Staring down your tits" mean?

moon is yellow = "a sign," perhaps? winking smiley winking smiley winking smiley LIS, yellow? ("Oh no, not you again")ahahahahhahahah!

jello = Both Mick and especially Keith, love tits winking smiley makes them weak to see them winking smiley Ronnie too, goes ape over tits at concerts.

Staring down your tits, = at a concert = staring from the stage winking smiley

I'm judging them on their own merits, not by comparison with other writers. If they're based on some 50's reference (and how do you know they are?), that's still not really the point. I still think they're banal by anyone's standards.

And how do you judge (e.g.) Star Star ny anyones´s or your own standards?
And aint that a helluva rocker, too?

The lyrics are of course totally ridiculous and shallow,
nevertheless the song is not a classic but it's pretty
decent and I'm looking forward to hearing the final version.

Re: Who's got the lyrics for Oh No...??

By banal, I mean the sort of stuff that's cliched, outdated and would appeal to a 12 year old. Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini is banal

Star Star clearly isn't. It's lyrically quite clever and satirical and for its time the subject matter was relatively original.

I may have given the impression I dislike "Oh No..". Thats not the case. Overall the song as I've heard it in this rough form isn't bad. I just think the lyrics are pretty silly.

Well, no, I surely got the impression you like ONNYA more & more.
Its even more obvious if you sneak in at Rocks Off once in a while.
I just find the banal-disussion somewhat strange. Critizing a rock'n'roll
song lyrics for that is like pickin on the sun because its shining,
on the bird for it sings & flies, the blues cause its too sad or
certain message board users or runners cause they´re cynical & sceptical
(which I do)... smiling smiley I just mean that there are other artists or
composers to tune in if one wants lyrics which bears qualities
in themselves. Anyway; we will all swing & shake & sing to ONNYA in due time.

I've said the same here as I've said on Rocks Off. Since I heard it first time, I've been humming or singin' it to myself a lot. Its therefore quite catchy. The lyrics are substandard for a Rolling Stones song however. I know it's not 1972 anymore, but I still think they're capable of much better. Mick's recent work certainly would indicate that.

Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to say it's a classic. In all honesty, it doesn't appear to be. However, I dont have this mentality than everything the Stones have done studio or in concert in the last xxx number of years has been substandard. I judge everything without prejudice on its own merits. For the record, "Bridges" happens to be my favourite Stones album since "Some Girls" (although on a given day "Tattoo You" might shade it) and I liked Voodoo Lounge a lot too. I thought of the new songs on "40 licks", two were good and two were weak - Dont Stop grew on me as the tour progressed as I thought they played it very well in concert.

I can assure you I've been swinging and shaking to last Tuesday's 3-song set several times already!

Re: Who's got the lyrics for Oh No...??

"I can assure you I've been swinging and shaking to last Tuesday's 3-song set several times already!" (Gazza, above)
- Same here. And what makes me so extra hopeful is that my kids as well as my parents likes it (ok, the latter may often be a warning sign that something´s wrong). And I never get to like a new Stones song so fast since 1973 or so. But of course, I wasnt a hard core during the 80´s or 90´s.

I also find BTB & VL underrated; sometimes I put them down myself, I think its in the psychology of Stones fans, the level of the good ol´ days is hard, if not impossible, to reach. I´m glad you´re not into this mass thinking, which we tend to run here. Maybe the better part of being the eternal critic.
The 90´s material will be ranked much higher in some 10-20 years from now, I´m sure.

...I may be mistaken about the classic potential in ONNYA; I may mix this up with the new crisp energy I was struck by last Tuesday. Still I think it will find the way sooner among the war-horses rather than among recent mediocre stuff (at least mediocre as we have put it sofar).

Anyway, hope the sun is shining in Belfast. In Angaria it sure does!

I don't understand why people are asking for the lyrics. Is it because English is their second language? The lyrics are in the song.
