I paste below what a fan just posted on the rs.com board.

Chuck Leavell was on wcsx (Detroit) this morning. He said the new material "sounds great, and should be finished in about 60 days". He further went on to say that he "couldn't imagine the Stones NOT touring to support a new album".

60 days... Would be a release 'round... 22nd of June, right?
It rhymes with what gazza & other credible posters wrote here & in Rocks Off & Shidoobee, doesnt it?
I suspect a week or so off for the Stones after Boston (and after possibly 1-2 more gigs after that); around 1st of September.

Not to shit in somebodys coffee, but when did new Stones material not sound great. Chucks job is to hype it up as much as the record company.
Sounds exciting but we really wont know until we hear the thing. I will keep my fingers crossed.

well..its guess work regarding both the '60 days' thing and any prospective release date.

If theyre touring from around 21st August as now seems likely, I'd expect a new album to be released earlier that month

The last studio album was released Sept 30, 1997, one week after tour start. Back then the schedule was like this:

Aug. 18: Press Conference
Sep. 23: Tour start Chicago
Sep. 30: New album release

No need to release the album before the tour has started. Actually they want the tour opening press coverage to boost the start of album sales.

May 7th..the tour started on sept 3rd

however Bjornulf is talking about the importance (or lack of it) of getting a studio album out before a tour, I think.

but, I think we care more about that fact then the stones do, they can bring out a new album in June, but if they'll tour in september they still won't do the new songs, so it really doesn't matter,
BTB was ok, they played a lot of new songs, later in the tour, that was OK, but, well,
I just want a chuck solo tour featuring mick jagger, charlie watts, and his sidekicks

The best thing about that tidbit is the number 60. as far as the "news" about the material sounding great: Can anyone imagine Leavell saying "Yeah well, I'm not crazy about those new songs. but I guess they'll have to do..."

Yeah but that album AND tour were both a forced issue. Everything was done in a rush. This has all the earmarks of a Voodoo Lounge style rollout with the press conference in May. Single in late June or July, album in July and tour kick-off in August. These guys are creatures of habit.
