Easily the Beatles.

Could not play live
Not good on their instruments (what guitar players did Lennon influence)
Worst of all, dated ugly women who nontheless controlled them.

Weak as the krishna drivel on Sgt. Peppers.

Paul McCartney was so boring. If you can call that an act! smiling smiley Bob Dylan also disapointment.

Actually in a matter of weeks, I first saw Paul McCartney and was really disapointed, then 3 or 4 weeks later I saw Tom Jones. He kicked ass compared to P McCartney.

U2 also overrated, Bono is not frontman material.

are you high?!? Paul's bass playing was just brilliant. Very melodic. His bass lines could be songs on their own.

My vote is for Kiss.

The Stones are underrated.

Every other performer/band listed on this thread is horrible....

Bono and all the rest of em should be in jail for fraud!

It's a tricky question because it is not "Who do you hate?"; it's just who is highly regarded, and does not deserve it? I don't think Kid Rock is highly regarded anywhere, LOL. he sells a bunch of records but to folks who don't do much regarding at all ..

Unfortnately, just like every other thread,it turns into who do you hate thread. Musical tasted are so subjective,I don't see the point in criticizing someones else's musical tastes....But Kid Rock does suck.

The Beatles could certainly play live. Listen to the boots: tight and driving band, strong vocals, and no supporting musicians. Not to mention they couldn't hear themselves more than half the time and concert sound system technology was all but nonexistent.

Springsteen was annointed by US media conglomerates (who had financial interests in his record company, of course) as the new Dylan-Stones-you-name-it-he's-it virtually before he first set foot in a studio. On the other hand, he's delivered several good tunes over the last third of a century-plus.

... But really, if the Stones didn't at least qualify for the finals as simultaneously the most overrated AND most underrated act of all time, would this web site have one hundredth its traffic?

i still go for michael jackson.
he's called the king of pop and probably and one of best selling artists of all times.
people rank him as high as elvis, beatles or the stones. but besides some good party tunes what did give us? ok he fond out that its also possible to walk backwards...
wont ever understand it....

U2- not that they are really bad but I think they benefit from what I call the "vacuum effect". Back when The Stones were in their heyday they competed with the likes of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who etc. etc.. In other words all these great bands existed at or around the same time. Now U2, while they may be a good band appear to be better than they are since there is not much else in the way of talent in the music business these days. Talent wise imo the best band around today is the equivalent of the fifth or sixth best band back in the day.

Led Zeppelin- Another great band but imo they were running out of steam by the late seventees. In Through The Out Door was a long way from their earlier masterpieces. Had they stuck around maybe they would have rebounded with better stuff but we will never know and they seem to be the band that has gotten the most mileage from a relatively short existence.

As a couple of people have already stated, this quickly went from who do you think is overrated to who do you thinks just sucks, regardless. To me, Radiohead is the epitome of what's overrated and belongs on the list, because while I can admit they do have something going on artistically, I just don't get it. The same with U2 (from Joshua Tree on, before that I think the hype was pretty true), Pearl Jam (maybe an exception here and there), and Coldplay (no exceptions), among others I can't think of right now. But putting up examples like Nickelback, Bon Jovi, Journey, Kid Rock and the like, who are just too artistically lightweight to begin with, is not what the guy who started this thread was talking about.
