"Live Aid 2". Will The Stones appear???

Clapton is the biggest name as of yet for the "Live Aid 2" concert. Maybe The Stones could play a good few numbers. It would be a good booster for the new album as well, and also mend the fact that they didn't play together at the first "Live Aid".

Live Aid 2
Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, Wales, UK
Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005

The Millennium Stadium is set to stage the biggest and most important concert of its five year life – TSUNAMI RELIEF CARDIFF.

Rock legend Eric Clapton has pledged his full support to be one of the main acts at the event which will take place on Saturday 22 January. Confirmed acts from across the music spectrum including the likes of Feeder, Lemar and Jools Holland will entertain fans throughout the day, with Wales’ Aled Jones and Katherine Jenkins adding to the party.

There will be space for up to 65,000 fans to join the party in the Welsh capital and they will be able to enjoy more than six hours of top flight entertainment and join the rest of the world in raising money for those left with so little after the tsunami disaster on Boxing Day.

PS. I don't think the Stones will be there.
May be one or more of them individually.
But the band never play unless it's on tour.

They turned down Live Aid, not helped by the fact that they couldnt stand the sight of each other, even though they were working on DW at the time.

Despite the noble intentions of all of these benefit shows, the fact is that any act playing in front of a worldwide audience is basically getting a free and golden opportunity to get a huge increase in their record sales. That happened at Live Aid - every act saw their sales rocket, so all of them almost certainly ended up making a pretty tidy profit out of a charity event, even if they did so indirectly.

If such a show was to take place in the summer, it could well be around the time the band has a new record out and would be a shot in the arm for them commercially. Call me a cynic, but that timing and the probable benefits for them might tip the odds in favour of them playing at such an event

It is a sad fact that there is the need for money and aid equal to one South East Asia Tsunami size every month in Africa, Darfur and so on.

Sure it would be great if the Stones could do a Live Aid RS this summer!

If Jools Holland is on the bill there might be a chance of Ronnie joining him, right? But on the other hand he should better be working in the studio with the others by then.
