Think you should be addressing that to "Live!" - not me. I said that such a release should ONLY consist of unreleased recordings.

Moot point anyway, doesnt look like it's happening...for some time at least

When I talked to my connections at Universal, they clearly stated that there would be a product that would replace 40 LICKS, as in a new Greatest Hits/ Anthology. Of course this little conversation occured just after the Stones had left Virgin.

So, in effect, another hits comp with the same tracks as Jump Back or disc 2 of Forty Licks.

As in, nothing except to beef up the collection.

Well, maybe I'll get it since I'm not bothering with getting the UMe brickwalled remasters.

I would suspect any UMG issued hits comp would contain the same mastering as the albums, offering a clearer, more punchy and better defined listening experience.

I fully agree with your "hope".

But, if your hope is not realized, then it's not just a "wasted opportunity" but also "wasted money".

Do the UMG reissues sound anything like the original albums? I know the Virgin reissues did. I would certainly think that any UMG issued hits comp would contain the same remasterings as the UMG reissued albums (then again, one never really knows) but what is "offering a clearer, more punchy and better defined listening experience" based on?

Based on A/B listening between the Virgin and UMG editions.
