Hi,

I don't know if you're like me but sometimes i'm wonderin' if i am on the same planet, as some of you, don't be offensed by my words, but for non-english people,
some of your words in your threads could be misunderstood.

I've seen in another thread some days or month ago, a "newbie" askin' somebody to explain him a word.

So, i've got this idea to start a thread on it

here it is :

IMO = In My Opinion
LOL = Lots of laugh
Bump = Action to restart a thread in the top of the first page of the Board
#~@{^@ = A word that could be banned
sb = Soundboard
aud = Audience
Thx = Thanks
DAC = Dog and Cat
VGP = Vinyl Gang Product
u = You
pls = Please
RIP = Rest in Peace
RIAA = Recording Industry Association of America
em = them
WTF??? = What The @#$%&
FUBAR = F####d up beyond all recognition
SNAFU = Situation Normal, All F'ed Up
ads = advertisements
yadda yadda = blah, blah, blah
a.s.a.p. =as soon as possible
C.U.= See you
STG = A crazy person from Canada
ROTFLMFAO=Rolling On The Floor Laughing My F------ Ass or Arse Off

The last ones will be those ones because it's my favorites!!!

Wow = Wow
Hmmmmmmmm! = Hmmmmmmmm!

The best one is the Rockman's one!

:Awwwwwww ... Ahhhhhh ...ya... = But it could be better if we all have the sound!!!winking smiley

And so on....

I will add all the words with your help of course !!!

HMN

Well,I'm not sure I got it this time,Rockman,can you say it again ?

20 years ago ,I had an English course with an Australian teacher from Sidney ,a very nice guy called Mark who had a lovely hound-dog named Harry.The dog used to put his mouth on my feet and sight while I was learning .
I said to him how my accent was pretty bad and he asked me to choose between English accent or American one.I choosed American .Happily you just have to read me and not to hear me ....cool smiley

Well I am not entirely joking... I use all these short versions for myself, SFM is of course Street Fighting Man, but for most other people it means nothing. I try not to use abbreviations i.e. short versions when I write, because it makes a distance between me an anyone who is not an expert. With two million visitors on IORR per year there are may be 10.000 experts and 1.9 million who need all of this properly spelled out... Mind you even if there are lots of experts, we/they are still just just 0.5 percent of all visitors to IORR... The FOS people...

By the way I don't like the WTF term, because it means what it says... People who use it should use better language. I listened to Ozzy Osbourne last night at the Quart Festival, and he used the F word between every single word he used. He must have set a world record in number of F words on stage compared to total number of intelligent content words spelled out. Not that it bothers me, but we are all (quite a few) grown up people these days, right?

I prefer FTW thumbs up

I like the list of song acronyms, especially for less know songs. I remember staring at some for minutes to figure out which one it is.

In the 90s people from UK used IOR&R but I think everybody have been brainwashed into IORR by now. It works better on the web. Just one more example. I use RAAHP when I need (making notes at shows), but I have problems reading that note every time. They just don't play that song that often...

I have a funny story about Ozzy. Years ago when my niece & nephew were about 4 & 5, my SIL (sister in law) took them to see a kid's concert. It unfortunately shared a parking lot with a regular stadium and Ozzfest was happening at the same time. As they were walking to their car, all they could hear was "eff this' and "eff that". They were dying thinking about how their kids were hearing this. But the kids didn't seem to notice, the word meant nothing to them.
Then Ozzy shouted to someone "SHUT UP". Suddenly the kids with big eyes said "OH" because that to them was a really bad thing to say.
