I mean I sort of think I get some of it, but can someone explain to a naive newbie the exactly what this is all about? And I know they always share writing credits, but is this one of Mick's? Could it be about someone he knew at the time???

2 on 1978 live version he added one verse, about his mother and Mr. Brown

4 Amused really likes it

I think "When the Whip Comes Down"/"Just My Imagination" make a great pair and is what to be considered a double-A single! :-)

Thanks Amused..that is what it does seem to be about and so I thought it was likely written by Mick...I wonder if the character is fictional or someone he knew? Perhaps one of the Warhol factory crowd ala Little Joe in the Lou Reed song? Certainly a great R & R track from a great album...

don't get me wrong but... what does it matter? ;-)

it's nice to talk about music sometimes, but I don't get into such details.
instead, I take the volume up ;-)

I was under the impression (and still am) that Whip on sucking in the 70's is the Detriot 78 version, not Memphis as stated on songfacts...
