hello all a doozy of a first post i reckon but here goes......
i am a long time stones head and was basically weened on the music as a young lad
i have all the studio stuff and many of the official live lps but I am left wondering what are "THE" classic greatest of all time definitive "bootleg"shows from these 2 very different eras
while i realize this is a difficult and broad question I have noticed that certain zep/dead and other bands indeed have "definitive classic bootleg top 5 " that are accepted as top notch within the respective collector /"fan" circles
Bear in mind that everyone's going to say Brussels, Ladies and Gentlemen, maybe even Live at Leeds, just because those concerts are widely spread in excellent quality.
Of course, if you're really talking about "Classic bootleg concerts", those qualify without question. But if you're talking about performance only or a combination of performance and sound quality, there are many concerts that are right up there with those famous few.
From the '72 American tour, there are several boots with better gigs than the Ft Worth/Houston concerts that made it to Ladies and Gentlemen. Norfolk, Charlotte, Washington, Boston, maybe even some earlier stops like Long Beach and Hollywood Palladium.
From the '73 period there are several from Europe -- like Berlin or London -- and Australia that easily reaches up to Brussels heights.
the melbourne 66 show is very good, plus the NME gigs from 64 & 65 are also really rippin'....for MT you might want to check out LA forum 69, hamburg 70, and birmingham 73....also early BBC stuff is good source of Brians' talents.....
STONES JAM!! MICKEYS RULES!!! (burp) NADER IN 2016!!!!! GO GIANTS!!
As for Brian per 'live performance', I would say Ed Sullivan, May 2, 1965. His slide delivery on Little Red Rooster is sheer brilliance. He makes it look so easy.
