I went during the summer when there was an earlier Lashing and thoroughly enjoyed it.No celebs that I recognised, other than The Mighty Boosh on the next table. Cocktails were served in jamjars so as to be eco-friendly.We had a good time.

There was a nice German-only single version of Let It Rock (Leeds version) c/w Jamming With Ry on the B-side and a cool pic sleeve. LIR sounds better than on the UK maxi-single because it gets a whole side to itself! The single was a fundraiser for Release. I will be playing my copy when I DJ at The Band On The Wall on December 12th (more info at www.bandonthewall.org/events/53)

From www.nme.com The Faces have admitted they may hit the road in 2010 without frontman Rod Stewart. The band, who played a Royal Albert Hall show in London last month, did so without their original singer Stewart, with a number of guests taking on vocal duties. Keyboardist Ian McLagan has now said he will join the other surviving members - guitarist Ronnie Wood and drummer Kenney Jones

Members of this board were very helpful when I posted the first set of sleevenotes here (covering 62-64). We are now working on Volume Two and below are the sleeve notes to cover 64-67. I would be most grateful for any comments - mistakes, suggestions, additional thoughts. In particular can anyone give me the quote Keith made about the Licks Tour? Did he refer to it as Y-Fronts of Fruit Of The

My review of Friday night "Still Hott For Mott - And Hoopling Wildly Saturday Gigs was written to be the last song on a Mott reunion gig. The entire Apollo joined in the final "goodbyes" and on the handclaps, both of which continued well after the band had left the stage - a genuinely affecting moment and not a dry eye in the house. And of the preceding two hours? A perfec

Movie Review: Gimme Shelter I imagine that most movies look pretty good when you’re lounging in a very capacious seat in the screening room of the Soho Hotel, cold Mexican beer in hand. And thanks to the largesse of Warner Home Video (thanks, Sam) I had to review the new version of Gimme Shelter under this handicap. However Gimme Shelter would still be a great movie if you watched it on my s

Hi everyone This is a bit of a lengthy post but it's Friday afternoon on a lovely sunny day here in London and if anyone has the time and energy to read this article I would love to get some feedback. I am particularly interested to know if I have made any factual errors. I listed my sources at the end. Thanks for your help. ------ The Stones started off as skinny white boys play

I have just bought a copy of the 1969 Promotional Radio LP. I am pretty sure it is not an original but a re-release (which I am absolutely happy with). Can someone tell me how to distinguish between an original copy and subsequent re-releases ? My copy has Dark Blue London labels and is coded on the sleeve as RSD-1 Stereo. The label on Side 1 of the record carries the code ZAL 9241 and Side 2 is

Apparently some people could not access this via myspace.com/simonjcwright so here is the full Blog "The Best Studio Album The Stones Never Released Hillside Blues Vinyl Gang Productions VGP 214 2CD set (1999) For the true Stones obsessive (and we are many) it is extremely frustrating that Mick Jaggers obsession with proving the Stones continued relevance appears to preclude any
