Just before Friday nights Ray Davies/Elvis Costello gig (great, by the way) I realised I had lost my extremely expensive earplugs, probably on the way home after HP1. After a bit of panic I found these guys: www.hearingprotection.co.uk They sell mainly online but have a small shop in London off the Caledonian Road, part of the John Henry rehearsal complex and run by the charming Sam. gotdablouse, no camera on a track between rail and catwalk on the 13th. But I think there were more cameras on stage to compensate.

MaryNo, thank you. Being in close proximity to strangers for hours in very hot weather clearly requires everyone to behave reasonably and for the most part that is what I saw in T1 on both dates so well done to all of us. I think the Stones know that punks like them - "No Elvis Beatles or Rolling Stones" was very obviously Bernie Rhodes nonsense when Mick Jones was clearly a total f

beepee2 I was actually talking about the big video cameras at the front of the stage filming the show - they kept blocking my view of Ronnie, Charlie and Keith. Didn't seem such a problem at HP1, maybe because they were filming more from the little railway by the side of the walkway. However I do agree with you about the number of people talking pictures from the audience. The guy in fro

Hi MaryNo Sorry no nastiness intended. I heard my wife ask you very politely to move, you elected not to so we moved instead. I fully support your right to be 45 and a punk and if you had 8 hours in the sun you fully deserved to be down at the front. If someone is tall there is nothing they can do about it but you do not have to wear your hair so tall and it would shown consideration to others

My letter of complaint to Rob Hallett now follows (just sent). If I get response I will post it. ------ Dear Mr Hallett It is just as well that the Rolling Stones turned in two outstanding performances on July 6th and (especially) on July 13th. Here's my review of HP2 for Record Collector magazine. I've also included my review of Ray Davies / Elvis Costello on Friday for info because I am sure some of us were there! ------- The Rolling Stones, Hyde Park, 13/07/13 View: Tier 1, three rows from the very front When the Stones have played two gigs in the same town on the 50 And Counting tour the second gig has been mus

I thought they were together, my apologies. I agree if you have been there since 0930 and you are quite short you deserve your place by the rail. We kept hoping that the yellow mohican would wilt under the heat but no such luck - there must have been some serious lacquer at work. At least her partners hair only stuck up by 6" and so was less of a problem. The answer is a hairdresser on th

Gotdablouse was right about the French punk woman (definitely not a girl) at the front of T1 with the yellow coxcomb which stood up about two feet and made it very difficult to see anything if you were behind her (as we were). It's bad enough when people wear hats but this was disastrous. My wife asked her if she would swap places with her friend on the rail where would have impeded less peo

I'll post anywhere within reason, just email me at simon@orga

Finally my PayBands for Saturday arrived! But even then they managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by sending them signed-for to my house (where there is no-one during the day) instead of to my office (where there is). They did exactly the same thing last week and I asked them to change their records. So they screwed up in exactly the same way two weeks running! Cue an unnecessary tri

Hi Silver Dagger I was the DJ at the Scala when the Groovies played on Tuesday, plus I interviewed them for a feature you can find at onlyrockanroll.wordpress.com where you can also find a list of the records I played (hope you appreciated the inclusion of 2000 Light Years From Home!)

Update: Joe Sale at Barclaycard is now sending me new chips to turn my bands for the 6th into bands for the 13th. He is the only person I have dealt with throughout this whole sorry mess who seems to know what he is talking about and actually does what he says he will do. His email is [email protected] and someone should buy him a pint.

My 4 Tier 1 BarclayCard PayBands were delivered today...to the wrong address (home not office). Miraculously someone was in to receive them. I was promised a rapid service but this appears to be bog standard Post Office. So I have received the wrong tickets sent to the wrong address by the wrong method hopelessly late!

I hesitate to post because what I have been told is very unhelpful, but here goes. My July 6th Tier One + Barclay Unwind bar tickets have not yet arrived and the BST website is saying they have not been shipped yet. I live in the UK. I just spent 20 minutes talking to a friendly guy from AEG (aka BST aka Frontgate) He referred to the whole ticket thing as a "debacle". Apparentl
