It's not only the best Stones site but a place where many of us have made really good friends over the years so thank you for that BV.

QuoteHis Majesty QuoteSilver Dagger The most poignant clip was of an American interviewer asking Brian about writing the band's songs. I'd never seen that before and Brian's slightly fumbling reaction spoke volumes about the power shift in the band that occurred in 1965. I think he's quite chill and honest about it really. However, previously, it looked so awkward due to edi

I enjoyed it too. There's always going to be historical inaccuracies/different version of events on something that happened over 50 years ago but on the whole I thought the narrative was pretty good. What came across was how great a band the Rolling Stones were and how important Brian was to their initial success. That was the point Nick was trying to make and it cam across loud and clea

QuoteHis Majesty The reality is we will never have 'the truth', all we have is fragments of memories affected by the fluctuating range of human emotions and the passing of time. Brian's pov about all of the things said about him since 1969 is rather obviously missing. And greed Phil, greed. The amount of two bit so-called investigative journalists and second-rate film-makers

QuoteDoxa I need to admit that I have for whatever reason never been that awere of him and his music, but at the moment I am busy to catch up. Great, great music. RIP Gordon. - Doxa He has a very unique orchestral singer/songwriter sound. Very lush and melodic with great words. A great starting point is of course the If You Could Read My Mind album and after that Don Quixote from the foll

Quoteblakeeik Record Mirror has the ‘instrumental backing track’ version on several other bootlegs including DAC Bright Lights Big City Yes - it's this one. But it sounds different - or at least mixed differently with instruments brought up in the mix. Thank you.

QuoteMathijs QuoteSilver Dagger There's a fantastic quality alt studio version of this on a great 90s Stones boot collection called Record Mirror. Much obliged if someone can post a DL link for it. Many thanks SD I think this is what you are looking for: May 10, 1965, Chess studio, with Brian on harmonica. They rejected this version and re-recorded it in LA two days later.

Quoteironbelly Maybe it is better to specify what quality is set for the term 'alt studio version'. Is it - different take? - different mix? - different master? Because there are a lot of 'alt studio versions' all over the internet that are based on the mentioned above 'wide stereo mix' (that originated from tape transferred flat at the MFSL facility). But

I'm going to be in New York from tomorrow and fancy the Newark show on Friday but prices on those secondary ticket sites are crazy - $500 minimum for a lower side view. Do you think it will be possible to get face value tickets on the night at the Newark show?

Through 1964 Brian was still as much a visual focus of the band as Mick which you can clearly see in this video of their NME Pollwinners gig at Wembley. Excuse the introduction by Britain's worst ever sex offender. And here is some great film isolating Brian's performance at one of their greatest ever triumphs - the TAMI show, also in 64.
