QuoteTravelinMan QuotePalace Revolution 2000 How many guitars do you hear? I have 4, maybe more buried in the sludge?? To me the difference between this and the live versions may be tape. The effect that the actual tape has in this recording. I had never heard the horns in the earlier part of the song. Jimmy Miller taking over on drums. 1 The main rhythm on the left, 2 the slide on the right,

QuoteRocky Dijon QuoteDandelionPowderman If Matt played the piano, how did he make the piano sound that way? It sounds old, even for 1971, imo. Not saying it's Nicky, but I always thought it was. It could be Nicky. It just never sounded vintage to my ears. The thing is when I ask an alleged source if Clifford plays on it and he compliments me for working it out and tells me Clifford &qu

QuoteMathijs This is what my best guess is. Hints are the sound of the guitars at Nellcote (Ampeg) or the snare of Charlie, with a distinct difference between Nellcote (lots of snap, loud rimshot sound) and Olympic (more room reverb). Quoteachilles77 I'm hoping to preorder this soon, but I can't find any vendors/outlets showing this available on Blu-ray. Has anyone seen that availability? thanks Haven´t heard about Blu-ray, haven´t heard about any extras either. Would love it in best possible resolution too, though much of it is 8mm archive of course... Seen it?

"Torn And Frayed" was at least started in France. Jim Price is quoted as saying he was isolated in a room in the basem

Quotewonderboy One thing I wonder is where did Jim and Bobby stay during the Nellcotte sessions. Were they crashing at the house? Jim And Bobby shared a house close to Nellcote, along the water on Avenue de Grasseuil. If you visit Nellcote and walk over to see the famous Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild on Cap Ferrat, you will pass by it.

QuoteTornAndFried Keys and Price are doing all the horns on Rocks Off, Ventilator Blues,Tumbling Dice, Happy, Let It Loose and All Down The Line. Their parts were overdubbed and multi-tracked (layered) at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles Clarification: We have substantial biographical documentation and photographic evidence many horn parts were arranged, rehearsed and recorded at Nellcote. I was really pleasantly surprised by this film. Nothing earthshattering in terms of content I guess, but a lot of the archive was great to see. Its the first time ever live footage has been seen from the EXILE sessions in France, eventhough it was of the truck parked outside the villa, not the basement. I also think the score was really nice, I did not miss more Stones tracks. And I was posi

QuoteHis Majesty Quoteroller99 In 1968, the then-tour manager for the Rolling Stones introduced “the greatest rock and roll band in the world.” Great factually based start. Yep. Followed by: "a shot by Michael Cooper of Richards floating in a swimming pool at Villa Nellcôte in the south of France". Sigh. But leaving the nerdy details aside, sounds like a great event!

Think Taylor played a Fender Mustang Bass on Nellcote. But you be the judge. At least two images exist with him on bass from that basement. Drop me a mail and I´ll send them to you. Probably used Bills amp, since he was on vacay when Taylor stepped up on bass.

When preparing the EXILE book in 2001 Tarle made several prints that were used as basis for the printing of the book. Most of them were included in the luxurious publication, a few were omitted. I believe Tarle thought the box with the prints somehow had been misplaced or something, that was the story in the intervening years at least, until it resurfaced again. Hence the name "The Box"

QuoteHis Majesty Yeah, LIL dates back to before Taylor even joined. Kind of makes sense of Taylor not playing on it and Nicky playing mellotron. Since you are the "Mellotron Majesty", which was the last track they used it on? (I mean 60s-70s) For me the mellotron has always been bugging me, it sort of dates the track sure, but there is something about the elaborate arrangement

QuoteHomerSimpson It's here. Got my copy from Amazon yesterday. Too tired to deal with it yesterday. It does sound 'softer or warmer' - hard to describe exactally, and perhaps I'm just looking for something that is not there. Got to remind myself, this is a remaster, not a re-mix. I'll have to compare these more before I am ready to declare one the 'best'

Quotestanlove I love Following the River. I can figure what people don't like about it. Sorry to interrupt the ADTL bashing/praisal. I am all in favor of the almost-flat intro guitar, chugga chugga rhythms, splendid slide work and insane backing vocals A momentary lapse back to "Following the River". I find it easy to understand why people criticize it. Its syrup-y and slic
