Child of the Moon wasn't recorded using open G either, but it doesn't matter, this thread is about what is fun to play using open G not whether they originally were or not no!?

QuoteGreenbluesQuoteHis MajestyLarks is their 5th studio album Greenblues. Didn't question that, His Majesty. I was referring to the first album (Crimson King) AND Larks ;-) Anyway, didn't expect to find that many Crimson buffs here! One's always in for surprises on IORR. Oops, my apologies, I just read it quickly.

Larks is their 5th studio album Greenblues. Regarding Greg's sulky look... Greg had decided to leave KC early 1970, citing that it just didn't seem right to continue with that name without Ian and Mike onboard and he also wanted to pursue Keith Emersons offer to start a new band... Fripp considered this too, but Emerson didn't want a guitarist. Greg was asked if he

Quotewith sssoulsmile: some very pretty guitars in those photos, eh HM? thanks for posting them and can you be coaxed into adding captions so we know who we're looking at? Yes, great guitars, Fripp still owns that 1959 les paul custom! Captions added and the photographer too. Here's two articles covering KC after the break up of the original band. ZigZag April 1970

QuoteskipstoneSo what are the verified time or times they were there? If you believe some sources, half of Let It Bleed was recorded for Beggars. Etc...so I dunno. Does it matter? Huh. Shadoobie. It's said they were there during a break in recording at Olympic Studios during April 1969. I think the fact that Beggars wasn't released till the end of 68, despite it being ready in

Quotesilkcut1978That it was recorded for the first time before their trip to Italy?! But this might be no proof at all for you ;-) Can you prove that it was recorded before their visit to italy in April 1969!? And if so, what is lyrically, vocally and musically present in this early version that is also on the final released version? If some early version was recorded before the trip, that

I love the first 1969 King Crimson line-up, the later line-ups were great too, but for me the 69 band always jostles with the 68 era stones for 1st position as my favourite band! I was very happy to be able to interview original member Ian McDonald on the phone back in 2001, and then he invited me to the In the Court of King Crimson book launch. Tis a great thing when you meet one of your musi

Yeah and of course, even if you are influenced by jazz, it doesn't mean that you will use that influence in a jazzy way/context. There is a very obvious example of where Eric Clapton was influenced by jazz, the solo to Sunshine of your Love has a direct 'quote' of the melody from Blue Moon at the start.

Mick must have explored his jazz influences later then as there really isn't any jazz present in his playing during his time with the stones. He stepped outside of the pentatonic scales during his stint with them, especially towards the end, but that's not really playing jazz as such.

QuotetattersQuoteHis Majesty What playing of Mick Taylors sounds jazz influenced to you? "Giddy Up" and "Spanish/A Minor", from his 1979 solo debut, are not merely jazz influenced, they ARE jazz. I don't have it, can you link me to anywhere where I can have a listen?

QuoteEdward TwiningMaybe the thing i love about Mick Taylor, which perhaps i don't see so much in some of the guitar greats like Eric Clapton, Peter Green and Jimi Hendrix etc. is perhaps more of a jazz influence. Maybe it is his more free flowing, improvised style of jazz influences many of his fans love about his playing, and less the influence of the blues? You made a bad choice incldui

QuotearizojpLess spectacular than Gimme Shelter files, here's the Sympathy for the Devil 5.1 mix : (120 Mo, slow download) On a channel, MJ voice is isolated, and the guitar solo too (same channel) You need Audacity to listen to all the channels. That's cool too, listen to that solo tone, super treble!!! Thanks for posting it!
