QuoteThe Joker The live version featuring Eric Clapton at Madison Square Garden in 1975 is also dreadful, and this time Mick Jagger is singing so off-rhythm during the verses it almost hurts.

For me it was out of the question that at least the forthcoming US tour will not be canceled becaus of Charlie passing. Remember, it's a million dollar business not only for the band but also for the promoters, stadium operators, merchandise and food stores, etc. In these difficult times it seems important to go on out of respect to those who depend on the tour business. And Charlie knew abo

For me, collecting bootleg LPs back in the late 1970s was exciting non only because of the unreleased live recordings you were able to listen to (although the sound quality was sometimes horrible!) but also for the artwork and creativity on the covers. Some bootleg titles were really special, and among the best are those refering to Charlie: CHARLIE WATTS LIVE AT LEEDS (Leeds 1981, with a g

Every artist is aging and losing much of his flexibility, that's a natural process. Originally, rock music was the music of young people for young people. Nobody ever thought that the stars woukd still be performing in their 70s and even 80s. It is not nostalgia if you find the old recordings much better than the newer ones. As a rock singer, in your 20s to 40s you can sing with a lightness

QuoteTheflyingDutchman Quotesaltoftheearth If they invited Mick Taylor and made him part of the band they would still have four original members on stage. Mick Taylor is not an original member. He replaced Brian Jones. Funny to see now that the Stones have a black rhythm section. If you are that critical about it let's tate that he is former member, and he would be more fitting than so

I am a long-time Van fan, and besides some well-known classic tracks some of my favourite songs are obscure ones which he never ever performed live: (official version) (demo) So if you want to escape the Covid discussion try these songs...

No Expectations (acoustic b-stage) No offence intended but do you really think that an acoustic version of Beast of vurden would work in a stadium? They played Lady Jane back in 2012 in London, and I would like to see that song in the setlist but although they have proven that they can still play it perfectly they obviou

I am eagerly waiting for a bootleg series release which comprises the World Tour 1978 and sthe STREET LEGAL album They should release concert recordings from Europe (Nuremberg, Zeppelinfeld, Blackbushe Aerodrome, or Paris) if there are decent soundboard recordings. These concerts were far better than the official Budokan album (which I appreciate anywway), and there seem to be outtakees and rehea

Quoteboogaloojef No one had ever been crazy enough to do such an audacious thing before. This is not true, as Clinton Heylin proved in his excellent book About the history of the bootlegs. Of course 'The great white wonder' was the first rock Bootleg, followed soon after by 'Live'r than you'll ever be', but basically Bootleg Recordings were as old as the record inb

Turning back to the thread I must say that I learned a lot. I Always thought the 1975 tour to be mediocre, to say the least. But now I listened to the first concerts of the tour, and they are really very good. For instance, they could have released a double album of the Boston shows, selecting the best version of each song from both Shows. Later on, it deteriorated, mainly by Mick's growling

Quotestanlove QuoteStoneage One observation about the 81/82 tour: Neither of the Tattoo You songs came out good live. I think they slaughtered SMU for instance. Uninspiring. Black Limousine might be the exception though. It sounded pretty good. Agreed. 1981 was their worst tour ever. They just basically butchered their own songs for 2 hours. The crowds were dead and disappointed. Not sure a

QuoteStoneage Hard to tell. There are very few recordings with professional quality around. Especially from the 1982 tour. Hampton, LSTNT and Leeds are the ones that comes to mind. There must have been a complte audience recoding of the first show at Munich, 10 June (Willkommen in Munchen) but I never saw it as a botleg, and it obviously never appeared on Youtube. Only 'Chantilly lace

Unless something pops up from an unexpected source I do not believe we will see any shows from 1980 or before with the exception of 1976 Paris and 1972 Philadelphia. Let's summon up the recordings that are knwon or highly probable to have been recorded b

You probably cannot overestimate the importance of bootlegs for a band's Image back in the 1970s. It was far more valuable than the losses in royalties they had to suffer. Imagine rock music without bootlegs… downright depressing….

I think it's quite normal that you listen to a tape and think the sond could sound better. This is the creative process. Don't you think that any band member was 'corrected' sometimes? And though I am no expert in the Music Business I think that even Mick or Keith frequently thought 'I have to redo this, it does not yet sound right'. Nobody is perfect, not even the t

Quotematxil That sounds very promising. The casting for The Crown was excellent, so if the casting of this series is going to be just as good, it's going to be a lot of fun. Really? I had to stop watching after the first two episodes because the fictional Princess Elizabeth was a dull, trembling person, as was Prince Philip. The young fictional Elizabeth is a pale, insecure ‚nobody‘. I

Quote24FPS QuoteDandelionPowderman Quote24FPS Is Knebworth the only remaining fully shot show from the Wyman era? Wasn't Wembley also shot that tour? I'm kind of shocked they didn't tape a lot more shows back then. A 'complete' show from the Maysles 1969 footage would be killer. I'm afraid we're coming to the end of the line of archival footage from the Golden E
