QuoteBeast What you saw was it. I see, thank you. Another example of the end of civilization as we know it. Or as someone said about cocaine: God's way of telling you you have too much money. jb

Quoteshadooby I think I’ve got 3 versions. The last one that I found at a record store years ago was the best quality I’ve ever seen. They’re out there. I just have a bleary VHS tape from back in the day, probably fourth gen copy of the movie being screened in Berzerkley, hand held camera style. But boy I used to love it back in the day. To me it is a document of the excitement and boredom of

>His work with The Beatles was monumental. His solo work, trite and twee. I was just going through the Anthology sets today and thinking the exact same thing. Its amazing how he went from so powerful in both singing and songwriting to what you call "trite and twee" (I am going to remember that one). Also his bass playing used to be really standout, and now it seems to be pedestri

>MisterDDDD posted a link to the NFT in his post above yours. Huh. I must have missed it. I followed a link he posted but did not see anything that could be selling for millions of dollars. I saw some kind of cubist video something. Could you be more specific? I thought I had read through all this thread but maybe I missed a link or explanation somewhere. thanks jb

Yes parts of it are staged. Thats movie making. Regardless, its a great portrait of the time, warts and all. It leaves you with icky fingers and thats appropriate. Or at least it was back when having fun was ok. I personally enjoyed them chucking the TV out the window. Thats how the party started back then. You know its a good party when the ambulance shows up. Or the fire truck. Think Hyde Pa

what is this "NFT" that is going for millions? the auction for the artwork or whatever it is ended with high bid of fifty grand. next bid increments often depend on auction house rules and are often in a form of an increment equal to a percentage of the current bid. So when the current bid is high, it is increasingly expensive to better the bid as the value increases. jb

>I hope it never sees light of day...horrendous movie You ever actually watch it? It is the essence of the Stones at the time and its got exiled written all over it. Its a brill movie and should be released. But I guess the unvarnished view of their heroes is too much for some people. Because, you know, the Rolling Stones were actually Boy Scouts, and would never indulge in any o

>The point of this review is just to spell out why he hates those two guys so much in general. Actually I think you are giving him way too much credit. Seems to me the point of the review is to show everyone what a genius he (the reviewer) is, and probably to get paid for some column inches. Its just everyday hack "journalism", especially prevalent in the "music press",

yeah capt thats the one and thats what I was talking about. As a photographer myself (isn't everyone these days?) I found it odd that it seemed he was not giving due credit for the photos. Thought maybe I just missed seeing the bylines. Some of the photos I recall looked like he could have set them up with the camera on a tripod and a timer or remote shutter release or something and there

It would not be the first time a movie's title has been changed upon release or re-release. Its a great film and they should put it out. Beats some schlock session at Copacabana anytime. jb

How does Bill Wyman take photos of himself? I noticed in the latest book of photography by him there were a lot of pics of himself. Since he is the author of the book of photography, I have to assume he somehow took those photos, and I don't recall seeing other photographers getting credit (may have overlooked it I guess). Just doesn't seem all that likely. And its kind of funny what

If people are taking bets that there will be a tour by September, that sounds like real easy money to me. There will not be a Stones tour of the USA in four months time, trust me. maybe there will be a tour ANNOUNCED by then, but a real actual touring tour? No way, San Jose. Maybe I am not following close enuff and the bet is not on a major tour, just some couple dates thing? In that case, cou

Cracks me up people cite Lee Perry. Great producer at one time, now a babbling bullshit artist, relying on shock value instead of any real talent. Last few times I was in his area I left early because could not take the babbling any longer, although the last time his backing outfit, basically a dj spinning reggae remixes, was pretty good. Rainford from On U Sound at least had a couple tracks I

The reissue of their first and by far best album a few years ago was a great thing, complete show, plus complete second show, all recorded in sterling sound by Owsley Stanley. So clean it sounds like the bottle is breaking in your front room. Didn't much care for them later when someone (Jorma) decided that louder was better and Papa John Creech, bless his heart, didn't add much but

The question will be: can they still make (the requisite amount of) money when they can only half-fill the venues? And if the 6 foot distance rule even means anything, that would pretty much mean one-sixth filled venues? I kinda don't see it until venues can be pretty much if not completely filled to capacity, all tickets sold or nearly so. Any less would mean they would lose or not make

What happened to Point Of View near Ochi in JA? He divested himself of that property? I had not heard that as of the last time I was on the rock, my friend is one of the caretakers there and he didn't say anything about anything changing. But you never know I guess... jb

None most of you would have heard much of. Most "rock" music lost it for me a long time ago. Maybe the Faces or very early Dylan (Blonde on Blonde and back). Little Feat while Lowell George was alive. Mike Bloomfield, Robert Johnson, roots of the blues sort of stuff. TP & HB just because I never really got into them too much in the past and only sort of recently discovered them for

I think releasing substandard material dilutes the legacy and that has been happening for some time now, excluding the one album they did of covers, which was brilliant. As far as legacy goes, it would make sense to come in with covers and to duck out with covers. Neatly tie up the package and then concentrate on filling in in between the gaps, like with vault live and studio outtake releases
