I have read some Finnish media reviews of the concert, and all of them say that the concert was fantastic, even though it is recognized that Keith played pretty bad and fell down few times, etc. A kind of sad thing is that these reviews somehow assume that Keith's bad off-key playing and drunkness is a natural part of every Stones show, and people love him because of this; they expect him to

Yeah, I can not really say do I view Keef a ridiculous, unpro alcoholic or the last sign of human touch in a cold hard-business las vegas machine, But anyway: the most inspiring, and touchy moment I got at El Ejido show - the only show I attend this summer - was Keith's performance in "You Got The Silver". I remember thinking: jeez, that guy really can deliver something evolving an

Hmm.. it looks like it wasn't Keith's best nights. Can't wait to hear the stories from many - mostly Scandinavian - IORRians that were present there (when they get sober and their fingers are not anymore shaking from hangover). - Doxa

Very 'fresh' set so far: only one (of 8) prior 1971 so far and four from 80's on. It would be nice to know how the 'big' audience reacts to quite 'odd' numbers. - Doxa

The Stones about to start in two hours in Helsinki, and this thread has fade away from the first page... I'll bring it back. I won't be present there but I need to say that there are good vibes going on there: given the fact that here in Finland has been more big acts than ever during the summer (the Who, Metallica, The Police, Aerosmith, etc.) and the gig and its promotion was annou

It looks like that this gig was the most exciting one in the whole European leg of the tour. Bloody hell I miss it. Instead I was drinking Russian Vodka in a summer cottage facing one of those thousands lakes of Finland... Anyway, I will skip the Helsinki show, too. They did such horrible autopilot last time they played that I promised I 'll never go to see the band there, and now it is even

Tatters, I really like your analysis of the song and especially your attitude! And I believe you have a point. I remember reading Jagger talking about the album and saying that some of the songs are very personal. Interviewer asked about something ABB being written for Jerry Hall, but Jagger denied that, but said - if my memory serves me right - that there are some songs that are more personal an

Personally I think that the Verve guy is right about "Bittersweer Symphony" being "the best Jagger-Richards song for 20 years". It is just wish-thinking from my side that the Stones could do something so fresh and relevant sounding stuff. (Why wouldn't them give Verve "Anybody Seen My Love, "Love Is Strong" or "Don't Stop" and get "Bitte

Great stories! If I would have a time machine I know where I would travel now. We 'too late born ones" can only imagine what the band FELT like when they were young and hungry and VERY relevant... I guess it is a quite general and wrong assumption to think that the band really turned into greatness in very much documented 1969 tour. That's mostly to do with technology, and hides th

To add a bit and clear my point: there are some Stones albums from the past that are not rated very high: Their Satanic Majesties, Goats Head Soap, Black&Blue, Emotional Rescue. Many of those albums are done during a transformation period, and has contents that does not belong to usual Stones canon. For example, the way in which albums B&B or ER start will NOT comfort a typical Stones fan

Yeah, it looks like that they have put their most popular ballads - "Angie", "Ruby Tuesday", "Wild Horses" - to rest. It strange that they don't do ballads very much even though Mick performs them very nicely these days. I would love to hear him trying "Time Waits For No One" or "Let It Loose" now. I have the feeling that he could manage quit

For a recovering alcholic Keith Richards is not the most supportive company... I guess it must be a hell to have no no drinking buddies in the band anymore. The accident happened at Isle of Wight festival. The case is more discussed at Rocks Off Site. - Doxa
