Quotetreaclefingers QuoteNikkei Whenever one of them died, like recently Beck, I get the feeling that I'm responsible to feel something about it. I am not a fan of old guys I am a fan of the Stones. I get that the Stones feel something about it, they don't have many peers, but do I have to? I was bombarded with links to Beck songs I am supposed to know and it just feels like more homewo

I know it's been done, but I think the time for it is now. I have seen a Led Zeppelin cover band called Lez Zeppelin that was all women and they were amazing. They made a considerable effort to actually look exactly like LZ looked in 1973. It is quite a trip and certainly better than some holograms or whatever that is supposed to be the next thing

I don't really see where rock music is generally, having been so fixated on the Stones for the last 8 years. But I think it is pop music that has run out of ideas of what you can do when you go full digital and I refuse to believe that the art of playing an instrument will die out. So it becomes a question of who will pick it up next and that is where the football analogy comes in. It could

Okay so I have a general idea how he blew people away because of his guest performance with the Stones ten years ago. It was immediately obvious how great he was, but to me it also was immediately obvious why the Stones wouldn't have any more of that. In that regard i wonder if they ever asked Jimmy Page on.

Girl groups. Girls actually playing all the instruments. I imagine it just like in football. It's going to be ridiculed by some oafs for a period of time (like the Stones were) and then people will come around and realize that here they have the real thing. It's still there. Way more real than Kanye can ever hope to be. What do you think?

I also consider Bills solo work as quirky but I enjoy quirky. He seems to be a rather quirky guy overall actually which probably helped the Stones forward in a way I didn't really consider before. Basslines are either quirky or bland. I didn't read the whole thread but many of you seem strongly opinionated on him so if he wants to hit a nerve (what quirkyness usually does) he certainly

I have a book called "Rolling Stones - Musik und Geschäft" that is not missing in any collection because it's basically full of shit. The interesting part is that it was printed in the German Democratic Republic in the 80s so it is sort of interesting from a historic point of view. It's got everything: wrong lyrics, wrong info, outright slander and not so sublime propaganda. O

QuoteMrEcho Quotewiredallnight Why should I buy vinyl records in mono? It's like buying a VHS cassette in black & white. Stereo for consumer use was first introduced in 1958. In the late 1950s and in the 1960s most LPs were usually released in separate mono and stereo versions. Singles were always in mono up until the late 1960s. In the late 1950s stereo LPs had a market share of well

Before ABB Tour Keith said he was "looking forward to what happens to the songs as we get them on the road, take the diapers off" or something to that effect. Now if you compare the material with the live performances of OOC or SOM you have to admit that the ABB songs didn't gain anything by being played live. Keith couldn't know that before but the way the songs gradually fiz

QuoteBitchKeepsBitchin I personally don't want to join Tik Tok because I don't trust it. Many US companies, universities and government agencies have already banned the use of Tik Tok because it isn't a secure site and hacks into your personal data and servers for the Chinese government. Of course, they deny this. Also, Grrr is nothing new except young people can now add in thei

I recently saw a pic of Keith at a restaurant table and it was clear that it was a paparazzi pic simply by the bone-chilling stare that Keith threw back at the lens. It should be noted though that this is a fame issue that has nothing to do with us the fans. Anyway like Bliss said, the way people these days seem to think it's okay to do whatever, basically anyone can get phone-filmed and pho

Mick loves the fans, he really does. The fame as such must be a drag, though. The unfinished 2002 song "You don't wanna be me" was maybe just about that.

Quotetreaclefingers Hmmm...normally I slavishly follow Keith's advice on all new music as he's clearly very into the "teen scene", and would naturally have a good grasp on what's a 'winner' and what's not. It's all a little disorienting now for us fans that are not able to tell on our own what we like, without some assistance from "ear to the g

I am a little tired of documentaries. We had all the good ones. "Tip of the Tongue" had everyone say a few things and I felt like I got to know Darryl well enough when he quoted Keith "I wrote it but do I know it?" I suppose an interview would be better than a documentary, same as with Chuck or the backing singers.
