Quotefrankotero Is it possible to measure the DR level (brick walling) on the vinyl. They sound good to me. Yes. But you'll need to make a digital transfer (vinyl rip) first. Generally, audio for vinyl is not that compressed. There are physical limitations that do not allow high volumes and high compression for vinyl.

Evolution of Start Me Up for different mastering and editions in digital domain. 1983, Toshiba-EMI CD with 'black triangle' label. The very first CD of The Rolling Stones in the world ever. Apart of very obvious pop at the mark 0.03 the rest looks pretty much OK. Dynamic Range (DR) for the track is DR=12. Well, the tape used for A/D transfer was obviously not the 1st generation, A/D

Quotefloodonthepage The songs sound pretty great, as in the songs....not the math, the songs. There are great songs on the bonus disc, IMHO. You've been very helpful over the years in terms of providing information and context to various recordings and releases, but I'm talking about how these songs feel, and they sound great to me. Seeing your charts certainly makes me wish that the pr

Quotehenrik87 Sounds good to me! But why did Mick add new vocs to Start Me Up? Also think that Fast Talking, Slow Walking sounded more authentic on Fully finished Well, I can not share your optimism. I just pre-set my system for comfortable listening of old-good CP35-3032 black triangle Tattoo You CD from 1983 and switched to those snippets. The headphones just exploded and went for overload. If

From Steve Hoffman's music forum __________ Tom Wabe Forum Resident OK - I've now heard Live at Wembley from this set - and.... I think it's the second night (unfortunately as I was at the first - see previous posts). Jagger's introduction to 'She's so Cold' is identical in its delivery to the partial video we have of night 2.. They then go into the song a

QuoteCooltoplady Where do people come up with this crap? This is not the weirdest thing I heard. The top one in my list was a suggestion from one coo-coo from Beatles fan camp to invite Ringo as a replacement for Charlie.

QuoteCamRS Over on the Steve Hoffman forum, someone is quoting Nico Zentgraf as saying that Come to the Ball is Windmill/Wind Call. I can’t find anything directly by Nico though, so I’m not sure how true that is or if I’m just not looking in the right place. Steve Hoffman Forum It was a few days ago on FB in The Rolling Stones Complete Works Database group. Information, as you see, came fro

QuoteHenrikBB To give an impression of why it is not that simple just to make “a list” of “The Rolling Stones in Electronically Re Processed Stereo” - here is a list of their first album, - Selftitled - No. 1 - The Rolling Stones - or whatever we call it. Their First album was never ERPS-released in the UK. It was released in ERPS in : 1968 - Japan, - with 3 later rereleases (that seems

Quoteexilestones I think Little Red Rooster on Grrr! sounds great too! That is different mastering from different period and it is pure digital mono. Quoteexilestones Do you know of any more fake stereo on Old Abkco? I can't believe I'm buying these Old Abkco for fake stereo. Apart of those two songs and complete 'Got Live' there are no obvious cases. The rest are

Why do you need a download if you have in on DVD (physical media) ? Just get DVD Decrypter Version 3.5.4.0 (final) and rip your DVD to hard drive. PS. But prepare yourself for legal charges if you live in the USA. The use of DVD Decrypter is illegal in the USA

Also, if they are the same trax, was the mix from 2011 in any manner re-done or altered for the 2020 release? Thanks in advance. Same track list, same versions,

Judging the numbers Dynamic Range = 9 Peak value = -0.15dB Root Mean Square value = -10.14dB Time 4.32 Gimme Shelter is direct copy-paste from 50th anniversary SACD-hybryd stereo edition (2019). Jumpin Jack Flash, probably, is a kind of new and rather compressed remaster (Dynamic Range = 8). All previous releases were better in terms of brickwalling.

Quotewiredallnight These "longer" versions are on the Japanese SACD which I have. But I have no possibility to rip SACDs (is there any at all?). Yes. But you'll need an old Sony PlayStation 3 and do some mumbo-jumbo with sacd-ripper version 0.21 application (maybe this is out of time and there is a newer version).
