For our German-speaking friends in Stonesland :-) Have a great weekend! PS: I just discovered a great podcast series called Under the Radar: Rolling Stones. Worth getting into.

QuoteCamRS I’m reminded of an old Stones story, where it was said that Mick liked to purposely make his vocals hard to understand so that people would listen to the record over and over again to make out what he’s saying. In this case, it’s blurring the lines between old vs young mick so that we keep listening to the song over and over again to see which Mick is singing. Really though, it

Don't get me wrong, grorgie48, I'm not demeaning Bill in any way. Love the guy and they have definitely lost something* without him, even though they still put on a great show. It's just that MT can sometimes be almost transcendental with his playing. *e.g. listen to Starf&cker on the mid-70s live releases from the Vaults

I think I was way more excited to see them with MT than with Bill actually. I'd seen MT in a solo show at Under the Bridge. He can lift them to a whole other level and it's great that he seems to be so close to his successor Ronnie.

Some things are worth the money - I’ve never been disappointed from a Stones show. And a good part of it is all the people you meet. I saw them at London Stadium about 2 years ago and got so caught up having a beer with a great couple I met who were over from NY that we missed the start of the show - though as soon as I realised the boys were slashing their way thru SFM I made my excuses pretty f

Agreed - I never thought we were going to get a tour in 2012. For a while after A Bigger Bang I feared it was all over, especially after witnessing the last show of that tour in London when family & friends etc all seemed to pop up on stage and Mick thanked the crowd for their support over the years... Luckily, more good times were in store.

Kudos to our Biology teacher (Doc Dilkes) for making us listen to Street Fighting Man and Satisfaction at our school assembly on a wobbly old vinyl player some time around 1982. What a guy... life was never the same again!

I rediscovered this video clip, where I get my moment of fame and am briefly interviewed about the band on the night of the first 50th anniversary show. I have played around with it a bit and plonked it up on my YouTube work channel as a bit of light relief. God Speed the Rolling Stones!

I've only listened to it a handful of times but it seems a bit like doing Stones by the numbers to me... a bit pedestrian.

Quotebakersfield I love 'Living in a Ghost Town'. It has the three ingredients essential to any good rock song - rhythm, tension and energy. Most of all it doesn't sound forced, When Plundered My Soul came out it reminded me how the Stones at their best sounded effortless, and how much of ABB had sounded forced e.g Oh Not Not you Again. LIAGT comes over as relaxed and i love how it

Quotedrewmaster I simply LOVE this track; it’s the Stones in all their glory (although the rest of the album is definitely hit-or-miss). From Charlie’s opening gunshot salvo, to the glorious blending of Keith’s crunchy riffing and Taylor’s beautifully melodic guitar that chimes in perfectly a split second later, to Mick’s full-force-but-slightly-hoarse vocal, this one grabs the listener by the th

Hang in there, Nate. There’s nothing anyone can really say - I lost my dad about 15 years ago and I miss him every day but it’s true that the pain fades with time and I have many wonderful memories of times together to treasure. It will be the same too for you, I am sure. Be strong. All best wishes.
