Just a weigh in. If you can, check the Gershwin show on PBS, utoob or grab a torrent. Hadn't listened to Elton in ages but this award show was so damn good. I even enjoyed Elton singing Your Song, a tune I have loathed for years.

A little middle of the road but what a nice listen. Wish Petty was still doing his thing. Enjoy.

What an interesting read. One of my listening joys is hearing how musicians put songs together, y'all know, the out-takes, etc. Wouldn't mind having these guys job myself. Makes you also wonder what Stones, Beatles, Who, Pink Floyd and other name bands stuff is awaiting discovery out there, Holy Grails in their own way.

A suggestion or two for folks looking to check out Aridzona after the Stones show. Sedona is a great place to visit, but needs more than a few hours. Expect traffic in Sedona. In that general area of the state I suggest checking out Jerome and Cottonwood and/or the Verde Valley wineries up there. The Grand Canyon is cool but a reach from Phoenix/Glendale then returning to Phoenix for a plane. Veg

Sweet read on the Fender Stratocaster. I have one, along with two Telecasters, along with two made in Japan Sigma by Martin acoustics. Much as I love the Tele, I'd recommend to anyone to get a Strat as your first electric guitar and learn to make love with that middle pickup and tone knob.

What a nice read. I have a number of songs by each in my permanent mix. Each is well worth exploring through utoob. Have fun doing so.

I could sum up my reaction to watching this as WTF. It's one of those things that once you've seen it you can never not see it. I never knew there was a Cher show though I remember the Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour or whatever their show was called. Regarding this, even for its time, very lame and awful.

No idea if this is already in this thread, but just heard Tell It Like It Is. How cool it would be if the Stones did a slow jam with Aaron Neville on this song. Just thought, another cool jam would be them doing Fats Domino's Walking To New Orleans or Louis Armstrong's Do You Know What It's Like to Miss New Orleans. The late Dr. John's I Walk On Guilded Splinters would be anot

Hmmm...regarding Marty being a faker, yeah, he can be a bit much and sends out endless emails asking for moolah, but his videos will provide info regarding playing. Justin is one of the best to learn from, IMHO. There's also a guy name of Eric Blackmon on utoob worth checking out. Blackmon is probably for someone who's learned the basics of the guitar and wants to know a bit more. His t

Here's a few places to check out regarding learning to play - Justin Guitar and Marty Schwartz on utoob. Regarding a guitar to learn on, a decent acoustic is the way to start. Go to a local guitar shop and see what they have used and new, hold the guitar and see how your fretting hand feels on the neck. You can also see what a used guitar might/should cost by checking out reverb.com.

What a great cover of this song. The Stones should include it in their concert set as part of Keith's bit.

Interesting premise, but for my taste, I'll take mono. There's just something about the blend of mono that speaks the music to me. This holds for the Stones, The Beatles and other groups that did mono releases.

A great song from a rather under-rated album, IMHO. Would that the Stones would again go wild in sound like this one. Listen to it through headphones.

"He was absolutely the best guitar player of his generation...." A nice read about Michael Bloomfield. The Paul Butterfield Blues Band album, East-West, with Bloomfield on lead guitar is so good. Also check out the album Fathers And Sons album with Bloomfield working with Muddy Waters for a great blues session. Such a shame the man's demons took him too soon. "He was

Came across this as it played at the end of and over credits for a tv show last night. Such a cool cover. Made me think that, for a change, the Stones should do a gospel oriented version of this song for their upcoming tour. Yeah, there's the duet with Lady Gaga song they'll possibly play, but, wow, let's get religious more than once. It'd be a great change-up. FYI, the singer

I loved the Smothers Brothers as an act and their show. They brought a bit of the counterculture, if memory serves me right, to 1960s television which was so cool for the time. Tom, if I am remembering right again, also was in the Give Peace A Chance by John Lennon video and song. I think it was him who always said to his brother, Dick, "Mom always liked you best" which could be called
