Just listened to a live version of this with the click track and it was horrible. Not life, a very robotic feel where Charlie is following perfect timing. It's crap and as a drummer is so obvious. Crank an earlier version and it makes later versions comical.

Sad x3 is simply a horrible song. Clearly Micks and an attempt at a modern rock song of its time. Very commercial and cold. Chuck Berry licks make no sense on this song style and it should be Ronnie's lead since he'd do something more suited. Poorly played chuck licks in the wrong key...I nominate as the worst solo by a professional musician in years.

Generally Steve is doing a good job from what I've watched. The snare sound is odd to me and not quite right to my ears. Very thud sounding with Steve's hard hitting and lacking snares and body. Charlie's swing was how he plays the quarter notes and especially the kick drum downbeat. Those are the feel of the drums. Rigid is straight ahead almost computer like but the added swing is the space between the snare hits. the minute placing and pressure of those quarter notes makes all the difference. The only reason the Stones still sounded like the Stones when Darryl replaced Bill was because Charlie was still driving the beat. You can't deny Darryl does not play or sound like Bill. How Charlie plays is the Stone's sound. Now you replace both and the rhythmic foundation of the Stones will now sound like a cover or tribute band with original members. Both Darryl and Steve

As a drummer I think Steve Jordan is a poor choice but likely the only choice if they don't want to postpone. He doesn't play like Charlie at all.
