I remember buying his book in the early '90s. I think that one covered up untill the Highwire/Sex Drive recordings. Good read. I also remember writing him a letter, wanting him to cover Voodoo Lounge and Bridges. I actually got an answer from him, telling me that he wasn't planning that at the moment. Now he has done it. Great! I will be buying this!

This one has a wonderful swing. Bills jumpy basslines on Charlies groove. Certainly makes this track sound like the Stones used to sound like.

One Hit is a good song. Harlem Shuffle is great. The rest is from average to poor. There's some potential, but the band didn't seem to be bothered at the time. Sleep Tonight could be a great tune, if they had bothered to record some proper drum parts. Had It With You could have been a good song if they had bothered to record som bass parts etc...

Quotethomashanck the song reminds me on ronnie's "i gotta see" ... and i miss a guitar solo in it My thoughts too. However it is truly a great song!

Quotetreaclefingers QuoteNilsHolgersson I really like the mix of the song they use in this video, but it's not on Spotify.. it's more groovy than the album version Thanks for sharing that. Very interesting. It's just too much for my ears. I love the album version so much this one gives me a bit of cognitive dissonance. Which isn't to say it's worse, just that fo

The ‘89-‘90 live version is superiour. It’s almost a different song than the studio version. Love both!

James Kottak - the drummer has a great record from Montrose through Kingdom Come (his drumming on the self titled album and In Your Face is great), MSG and many years in Scorpions. He is obviously not up to his game here, for whatever reason that might be.

QuoteShott I like the solo on Blinded by Rainbows if that is Ronnie I always wondered. Yes, that’s Ronnie, and you’re right. It’s great. Edit: Also worth mentioning Crazy Mama. Sort of a melodic theme solo he has also done simillar to in other songs. Don’t Stop springs to mind as an example.

QuoteStonedRambler QuoteIsakSun He couldn't have come up with the same great ideas, when he was playing the songs live he was copying what they(Perkins and Mandel) already had recorded on the album. Ronnie hasn't come up with one great solo on a record worth to remember. I think there are some catchy and sweet solos/guitar interludes by Ronnie on the Some Girls album. Also this B-Ben

Quoteretired_dog For what it's worth, I think "19th Nervous Breakdown" is now played as it should be played, compared to the slow arrangement of the Licks tour. I never understood why they ever felt the need for this slow tempo arrangement, and that includes the slow version of "The Last Time" from the Bridges To Babylon tour too. Basically two energetic power number

I have to say as I’ve said before. The Tumbling Dice version of the Wild Horses single from Stripped. Superb in every way. Also Start Me Up from Tokyo 1990 comes to mind. And Jumping Jack from Get Yer Ya Yas, even though Buenos Aires 2006 is pretty close. Probably as good as it gets

From the YT clips from this years tour so far, I must say that the band sounds great, and Steve Jordan seems to fit well. He seems to have paid great attention to the original recordings which Charlie hardly ever did. A remarkable example is how they now do 19th Nervous Breakdown with a shuffle swing true to the studio recording, as opposed to a regular straight beat they did with Charlie in late

QuoteIrix Quotejumpingjackflash5 As for final bows, there could be a bow of Mick, Keith, Ronnie, Steve Jordan and Darryl Jones, and then bow of Mick and Keith only. As suggested here - - final bow in 2 parts: first 'new' members (1975+2021) and then last (and longer) the two originals from 1962. I think that would be disrespectful to Mr. Wood. He is an official member of the ba

QuoteKRiffhard QuoteMeise According to Nico Zentgraf CW played drums on eight of the ten on Dirty Work. Steve Jordan played drums on Too Rude, Ron Wood played drums on Sleep Tonight. .. or Ronnie?! No way that’s Ronnie on Too Rude. On Sleep Tonight it’s quite clear that it’s an amateur playing the drums. Too Rude is another story.

QuoteIrix Quoteribbelchips Does Charlie actually play on Ghost Town, by the way? It sounds more like a drum computer "Charlie Watts: Drums." - according to the Credits: Amazon picture , - (i)-Button. Maybe it's a bit 'electronically processed' - like partly Mick's voice (Vocoder). Probably processed, and also the drumsound is much more dry than what we ar

Quotedonvis I still think it’s the Rolling Stones after listening to it maybe 20 times Definetly sounds like Jagger. The tune in the tv-series that is. Not the youtube-link posted in this thread. That’s obviously not Jagger, or the Stones for that matter.

I like the album. The rework of 1974s It’s a Wonder, which is here called She’s Wonderful, is very good. I Got Time is also a great jazzy ballad. Stuff is much better on the first Rhythm Kings release. November is worth listening to.
