QuoteThe Worst. The formula behind the longevity and long-lasting relevance of The Rolling Stones was perhaps best explained by Charlie in the Four Flicks documentary: “Keith brings emotion, Micks brings direction.” Keith makes sure the band is rooted with integrity, while Mick embraces modernity etc. etc. However, this is a bit different IMO. The Stones turning to disco or reggae is not the same

Depends what is meant by "RnR". If rock'n'roll, than clerly the Stones. If the general genre of rock-related pop music (not sure how to call it), than it is the Beatles.

That was a fantastic gig. The atmosphere was electric and everyone on stage enjoyed themselves. Thank you for digging this up.

QuoteDoxa A beautiful picture indeed. If we leave our Stones romanticism aside - some of it naturally promoted by Keef himself - that photo tells clearly what are - and should be - Keith's priorities in life. It is Patti and the family, but most of: her. I don't ask or need any other explanation for him not wanting to tour Europe for months. This picture tells it all. - Doxa Wh

I completely agree. New guitars are better than ever before. But vintage guitars, especially 50s Gibsons and Fenders, built in the mythical pioneering times, have a lot of mojo. It is emotional, not rational. It is not easy for an artifically aged guitar to make people the same.

See 3 posts below for article... I liked this part of the quote: "... unnamed spokesperson told The Sun, “but the Stones will get back onstage when they’re good and ready.” Me too!! QuoteMathijs Qualitatively Exile and Some Girls might be the best albums, or the most important albums, but I hardly ever play these albums anymore. Tattoo You still gets a lot of rotation, as does Undercover. When I play Stones, it's mostly live, and outtakes. Mathijs As much as I love Stone's studio records, I have always preferred their live performances, official or non-off

Quoteroby There are dozens of guitarists who could have transcended the Stones' post-blues direction. Much better than Ronnie, with brilliance, dedication, and talent. Mick Taylor, among others, if he hadn't left the band. The Stones deserved better musically. What is "musically"? A guitar virtuoso? That would not work. Another composer or musical director? Would not work

QuoteSilver Dagger Quotetreaclefingers QuoteTaylor1 Exile is the greatest rock album and not least of which because it carries it's consistency over 4 sides of vinyl. It's hard to make a great single album, Exile isn't just an album, it's a place. That's great and absolutely right. Exile On Main St is a place you can visit if you're feeling happy, sad or anythin
