Best version is the 2014 HD Tracks/iTunes version. It even plays all 33 tracks in the correct order, not rearranged to fit on two CDs.

Thanks for the comparison video! Must have taken some time to put together. I'm happy with my 1994 Virgin CD.

Thanks for sharing. This is sourced from vinyl. I don't think the tape circulates.

Sounds ok to me. Probably used DAC-017 CD2 for the soundboard, and clearly patched the missing parts with the recently circulated audience recording master cassette. Too bad they botched the transition at the start of JJF.

@CaptainAcid: Agree with your opinion on the Laughingsam remaster. Deleted after 10 seconds of listening. Halcyon label is still the best version I've heard. Can't remember if I've heard the Oh Boy! label version. It's an old release and probably relatively unmastered, so it would be a good starting point.

Thanks for sharing. Not quite as good as Happy Birthday Dear Nicky on the Halcyon label in my opinion. This version is a must have if you don't have that one.

QuoteRené Hi, I'm looking for: "Ladies and Gentlemen ... The Rolling Stones" 1DVD (4REEL Productions) 2006. It says it's got "Happy" from the Houston June 25, 1972 second show as outtake/bonus track, is that correct? If yes, it will be the only bootleg available with this version of "Happy". Anyone willing to upload this one please? Thx! R

Thanks for sharing the new version. Sounds about the same as the other versions to me. This one doesn't have Sweet Virginia and the end of Street Fighting Man spliced in from other shows to fill the missing parts. That could be good or bad depending on your preference.

I downloaded both. As others have said, the Cannonball version is recorded too low, especially on one channel. I spent about an hour fixing that, reindexing, and rolling off the high end which has no music, only hiss. The VGP version is probably a little better. It has more low end than the Cannonball release. For whatever reason, the VGP version is missing a lot of the tuning up, etc., be

Sounds a little better now. Thanks for sharing. These are the only two recordings of "Down Home Girl" circulating. It was not broadcast in 1979 and is not in the movie. It's the only song without a professional recording available.

Sometimes FileFactory links in the Stonesvault spreadsheet don't work for me, either. Too old, perhaps. Sometimes you can find different FileFactory links on Guitars101.com. I couldn't find the one you wanted, but I did find this which might be useful: Rolling Stones - 1972 Shows & Sessions

These look really good, and the audio/video sync is excellent, but do they run too fast?

Wow, thanks for sharing, falo! Based on a quick comparison between the previously circulating recordings and the new ones, the previously circulating versions are better in every case. So I wouldn't say this is a must have, but it's at least interesting. Did anyone have these recordings before Empress Valley unearthed them?

Quotemidimannz I tried it out on Welcome To New York bootleg, but the bass totally disappeared I'm not convinced there is any bass there to begin with. Sounds like all drums to my ears.

I am wondering if these releases use software such as DeMIX Pro in attempt to improve the sound quality. Would certainly like to hear them.

Best sounding source is the most recent official DVDs and Blu-Rays which were remixed into true stereo. Unfortunately, they run about 4% too slow and have to be sped up in an audio editor. Splicing the missing parts from the FM source into the stereo remix source would be very tedious. I thought about it, then decided not to. If you were to attempt it, I would suggest using Audacity (free

Some of the Stones footage is quite similar to Gimme Shelter in the way it's shot from the side of the stage. How did the cameraman get there and stay there through the chaos?

That YouTube video is an "authentic" broadcast, not a later audio-video sync. It is: 731023A 23rd October: UK TV (BBC2) ‘Old Grey Whistle Test’, London. Incl. - interview with Billy Preston - Street Fighting Man (MJ/KR) -Frankfurt 30.9.73, 2nd show per Nico's Complete Works.

It's not worth trying to find. It's just the Mick Taylor (left) channel of what should be a stereo recording. Get "Welcome to New York" and turn the balance knob all the way to the left if you want to imagine what it sounds like.
