Well, I get into trouble, then I hit the wall No place to turn, no place at all I'll pick a number between one and two And I ask myself, "What would Julius Caesar do?" I will bring someone to life in more ways than one Don't matter how long it takes, it'll be done when it's done His Bobness weighing in on the new Stones album?

AND IN THE END I CAME TO SEE THAT I JUST WANTED SOMETHING THE BAND DID NOT HAVE IN THEM TO GIVE (IT WAS A PSYCHIC MISMATCH) SO I GAVE THAT SOMETHING AS A GIFT TO MYSELF IN THE FORM OF A SEGMENT OF A LARGER DREAM (THAT VERY PROBABLY SAVED MY LIFE) AND NOW I CAN IN MY FINAL INCARNATION BID THEM ADIEU THANK THEM FOR WHAT THEY GAVE AND FORGIVE THEM WHAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO GIVE --LAZSMITH<-

QuoteNikkei QuoteIrix Quotebv They will live on forever, like the sun and the moon. And they'll be recited like Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Chopin .... I see a flaw in this often repeated assumption. It's always referring to composers, who the interpreters of their works are is neglectable. The Stones, while certainly being composers in their own right, will never have interpreters

Quotebv They will live on forever, like the sun and the moon. Read Elijah Wald's How the Beatles Destroyed Rock'n'Roll for a sobering reminder about how it is IMPOSSIBLE to know which acts/songs will survive and be embraced by future generations. All we can say is that some of them will ... all else is conjecture.

Quotekeefriff99 I thought both Saint of Me and OOC had the potential to become latter-day warhorses. Not sure why it didn't materialize. not to put too fine a point on it ... but maybe because they weren't very ... good? and people didn't like them?

QuoteRocky Dijon These are people who believe in their right to a life of excess and abandon being in your face. They are not moral conservatives, they just want to protect their wealth and think this is their best path. not unlike the guy playing their songs at his rallies ...

buttons was as bad as tsmr here's one way to think about it RUBBER SOUL - DEC 67 AFTERMATH - APR 66 aftermath was a reasonable response to rubber soul; not as good as rubber soul but pretty damn good and at least in the conversation. REVOLVER - AUG 66 BETWEEN THE BUTTONS - JAN 67 here's where the band really begin to pale in comparison to their rivals. buttons is maybe 1/8t

Favorite two Lennon stories so far from Mark Lewisohn's THE BEATLES RECORDING SESSIONS: The Official Abbey Road Studio Session Notes 1962-1970: 1. The band were recording at Olympic for the first time on 11 May 67 (about 3 months after The Stones had been in with Glyn Johns for a couple of weeks doing some initial work on TSMR). They did about a dozen takes of "Baby You're a Ric

Quoteduke richardson NO NO NO ... this is wrong, this silly interpretation of Guernica. sorry Ronnie, I know your heart is in the right place, but this is in extremely bad taste. plus it's just awfully executed -- the most charitable thing you can say about ronnie imho is he's a pretty good painter for a guitarist.

I'd prefer that Giles backtracks to Rubber Soul and Revolver for the next releases. The band were becoming true studio wizards and were feeling their experimental oats -- would be fascinating to hear some earlier takes of stuff like "Tomorrow Never Knows." By the way, I came across this in Mark Lewisohn's book and never realized there was a Stones connection to the naming o

were the stones more "radical" than, say, john lennon was? would they have "eviscerated" him in a way that the making of The White Album didn't?
