QuoteAquamarine QuoteSomeGuy Works of art however, should not be propaganda for someone's political agenda. The whole point of art, though, is that there's no "should." For the record, that was precisely the edit I was thinking about right after I posted, but didn't.

I don't deny any artist having the right to entertain their political view, of course. They are perfectly free to discuss those with their friends, as I do with mine. Works of art however, should not be propaganda for someone's political agenda. I prefer, say, Honky Tonk Women to, say, Rice Krispies, to use an analogy. But, to each his own. I can separate the artist's creation

Quotebv QuoteSomeGuy This is, in my opinion, a political thread, why not close it (why start it in the first place)? This thread is very on topic, because it is about The Rolling Stones. It is not political, because it is about licensing and legal terms of using their music for the purpose of promotion or campaigns. Well ok. The thread is not political, I guess I got opinions of myself, other

QuoteDGA35 QuoteChris Fountain Did Bill Clinton pay BMI for the song "Don't Stop" (Fleetwood Mac)?? Terrible Song anyway. I don't think Fleetwood Mac had a problem with Clinton playing their song since they reunited to play at his inaugural ball in 93. I think Beto O'Rourke used Happy, btw.

Got the cd single today. Played it once and can't decide which mix it really is. It didn't strike me as quite as processed as the 4 min plus youtube version. What do you think?

Risk alienating 50% of your fans. Was at a Springsteen show a few years ago and he went on a political rant that pissed a lot of attendees off and got a prett

Quotebv I think it is very simple. The Rolling Stones don't want their music to be used in political campaigns. Not that complicated. Maybe you're right, but really, I doubt that.

QuoteErik_Snow QuoteStoneage Imagine the seventies...a new, good, Rolling Stones album almost every year... Seems like a fairytale talking about it now... Don't complain, be positive. Now you can buy Ron Wood's "art" of setlist and paintings of himself and his band for only 1000 pounds a copy. You couldn't, back then. It was the dark ages. Only boring things like music.

QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteSomeGuyFrom what I read on this board TY was put together only by Mick and Chris Kimsey, from leftover recordings from earlier sessions. The "writing off" phrase is not mine, but it was what Keith said about not touring in 1980. If they had toured, they still would have had to make the videos, do the promotion for the album yada yada yada, anyway. Apparently no

In 1980 Keith had come off his Canadian problems and drug addictions (sorta) and was ready to go at it again and really wanted to tour. Mick was doubtful as to visa problems because of Keith's drug convictions and all. What didn't help was the fact that this time Ronnie had had a drug bust that was highly publicized at the time. Mick was giving off mixed signals to the press about touri
