They used to be a nostalgia act, now they're a museum act. Keith is not playing better, Jagger doesn't still have it. ... enjoy the show but don't kid yourself.

Quotenick1970 It was an incidental question I wondered if Beast of Burden was one of the best tracks showing the melding of Keith and Ronnie’s guitars? I have read that BoB shows Keith weaving with himself, as he put all the guitars on there during a marathon weekend recording session.

It's sad this great board has been reduced to approved fan club material like this.

It's not up to the artist to let other people determine his art. That way you get propoganda. For example, I thought Robert Maplethorpe insulted Christians, but I recognized he was making his own statement.

Agree with those who believe Jagger would be a better singer/performer if he was kept on a leash.

Sign of the times. Can't really fight it. The song isn't racist, any more than Midnight Rambler advocates being a serial killer, but woke is an attitude, not rational. Eventually a punk band will come along to challenge this nonsense, but the Stones are conventional now.

A lot of Keith's studio stuff is lightyning in a bottle. 36 straight hours and getting it perfect for the record and the next day he couldn't tell you where he put his fingers. Perspiration and inspiration.

The audience. The 'classic rock' audience is huge and never wavers.

Hope and pray the band members get through the tour and home to their loved one safe and sound.

Very uneven. It has some of their best-ever songs in Flip the Switch, You Don't have to Mean it and Thief and How Can I Stop. I give Jagger points for trying on Saint of Me, but I generally skip it. Too Tight is a good rocker. Most of the rest is just filler. A lot of the sound felt harsh and brittle to me.

The usual formula. Hot models, multi-ethnic, kind of decadent atmosphere, some old clips. ASMB did it better.

QuoteMisterDDDD Quotewindmelody So, if they like to end it this way, it is their choice. I am not sure if they are doing themselves a favor. To paraphrase Bernard- "Who says it's ending"? This feels like the end. Just a feeling. They will push this too far and it will be tragic or embarrassing.

No news here. Mick explains there is no room in the set list for surprises and Keith predicts the band will take Street Fighting Man in a whole new direction.

I feel kind of sad. They're really doing this. Charie's not here. They're old. Not in a Muddy Waters on a stool kind of old, but an Austen Powers kind of old. Playing songs from the '60s on a template built 40 years ago with their comeback tour. One new song. Not taking this thing to a new level. Just serving it up again because everybody in the bubble tells them they're

We all love Charlie, but Dave Grohl is a bigger figure in the rock world. Whatever Grohl is up to is bigger than Charlie's death. No disrespect to anybody.

Being cheated out of their catalog did turn them into money-chasers, and Mick turned them into a business with the comeback tour. No judgment, just factual. But it has made them less interesting and less adventurous.

Keith probably has it written up in the contracts and even his last will and testament that blocks Mick from touring as the Rolling Stones without him.

That interview bothered me. Bill tried to share a life on the road story that illustrated Charlie doing something a bit odd. But Letterman made a snickering drug innuendo. ... I did read another story about Charlie going somewhere in the north of England to play with some musicians, arriving late in the evening and then staying up all night because he wanted to go straight into playing. He

QuoteStoneage Not much to discuss, really. They never took that decision so now fate takes that decision for them. That is what is happening right now. Anyway, it doesn't matter. Their great body of work is half a generation behind them. That's sort of how I feel. They could have bowed out gracefully, or done it up with a final appearance in London or some such thing. Mick and Keith

I hope they just plug in and play. They've never been given to things like this and it wouldn't ring true. In their way they are very stoic and old-fashioned British. It's one of the things I like most about them.

Quotedmay Regarding wonderboy's fear of being in a nursing home 20 years from now and hearing Barracuda by Heart, I have a fear of hearing this song at any time. LOL. It's unavoidable. You hear it in the grocery store. Hell, I've even heard the Ramones in the grocery store.

I'm almost 60 and I'm done with it. There's lots of good music out there, which my son turns me on to and can be found in places like bandcamp. But classic rock was over by 1980. Yes, popular music is bad, but popular movies and TV are bad, too. I have a great fear of being in the nursing home in 20 years and hearing Barracuda, by Heart.

QuoteBitchKeepsBitchin It can get cold this time o year in Detroit. For anyone living in the area who has been to Ford Field, does it have a roof? Is there any public transit to and from the venue? Domed. No real public transport. Hotels downtown within walkable distance. The city has spruced up quite a bit downtown. Greektown is nearby with restaurants and a casino. Hotel shuttles to the airp

With age, being rusty and coming off a shaky tour, the band was vulnerable already. I'm very apprehensive about them falling on their faces if they try to keep going.
