Still waiting for the rumoured 'holy grail' Diamond Dogs shows that were supposedly professionally filmed at Madison Square Garden in June 1974 on 16mm and have been sitting in a vault somewhere. I've tried to get confirmation if this actually exists, even asked Mike Garson on FB, but no one seems to know for sure, except maybe Bowie's son, Duncan (anyone know how to contac

Wouldn't have guessed Nash still 'uses' marijuana, before shows, especially. Also hard to believe Wakeman made it through the 60's and 70's without doing any drugs (although, to be precise, he said he 'never popped a pill or smoked a joint') but that still leaves other drug-taking methods.

Saw him and the NYD with Syl Sylvain around 2006. Great show and performer. He rubbed some people the wrong way with his Buster Poindexter schtick in the 80s, but at least the Dolls' legacy is fairly intact.

Keith and Charlie (& Bill) were a unique rhythm unit but back then (73 & 82 here) Charlie was more dynamic and jazzy (busy) and treaded the rhythmic highwire a little more precariously, so when it fell apart, it did so spectacularly and seemed to take more than a few bars to get it back on track - to the point where Bill or Keith had to stop playing so Charlie could find his footing.

My friend met Keith in Antigua in 1991 - first in the bathroom of a restaurant where he heard someone sniffing *something* in the stall (a lot of something), then heard the sound of someone banging around, so he knocked on the door to ask if everything was ok, and heard a gruff British voice say:"Yeah, mate, I'm alright". The door then opened and Keith came out. After dinner, my

Now that people have spent $1000 on tickets and it's sold out, he comes clean on his limited participation on it. Not that it probably would have made much difference.

Quotetommycharles QuoteDGee Quotekovach That was a little rough to listen to, but man he's still doing it at 82. Almost makes me appreciate the Stones tour last year even more, for the most part did not sound their age. I had the same thought; I wondered, is that Sir Paul's voice on any given night these days, or was that his voice after 3 club gigs within 4 days last week? I th

$50 hard copy tickets, 1 per person, at the door, no phones. Sounds like heaven. He could play there every night until the end of time and it would be sold out. Goes to show they don't always have to charge $500 in a stadium.

Thought it was an ok doc. Most of the footage is from the 2003 Live DVD, although there are a few rare unearthed clips as well. The interviews were decent and the lead-up to forming Zeppelin was cohesive enough, but there are too many useless montages recycling footage and songs. It also ends rather abruptly.

So Ozzy's going to do a solo set then play with Black Sabbath? That might be pushing it. I wonder if all the other bands will have their sound neutered so the headliner has a chance of sounding good in comparison.

QuoteRollingFreak The Stones would carry on without Ronnie. If they carried on without Charlie, they'll carry on without anyone named Mick or Keith. AC/DC was disappointing cause it was so consistent for so long. Same lineup from 1980-2010 basically minus some drum changes and Mal dipping occasionally. 30 years, and at that point it felt like it had to be set in stone. They're too ol

QuoteChrisL If you want long, watch the Renaldo and Clara movie he made. That's where most (if not all) of the Rolling Thunder footage came from. It's a slog, but some of it is good and a lot of it is interesting. Actually, a lot of the footage in the Scorsese doc had never been seen before.

I'm rewatching Twin Peaks-The Return. It really seems like it's the culmination of his life's work. He uses all his styles from all his films and mixes it up brilliantly. Even though we may not know exactly what's going on a lot of the time, it's a great ride. I know there's been complaints that some scenes go on way to long and have no relevance to the 'plo

Funny how it was Phil who first jammed with Mayer at TXR and got all excited about it. I guess at some point Mayer drank the Kool-Aid and 'got' the GD. I suppose his guitar playing is 'passable', but his vocals ruin the whole thing. The Sphere thing is a joke, with Mayer having a 51% share of DeadCo and is listed as 'creative director'. There are rumours Bill

Quoteroundnround I read the book "Fare Thee Well: The Final Chapter of the Grateful Dead's Long, Strange Trip", by Joel Selvin. He is the longtime rock critic for the San Francisco Chronicle. He takes a pretty dim view of Phil Lesh in the book. He portrays him as selfish and arrogant, and alienating his fellow band members. Among other things, he writes, "How could Le

Quotefrenki09 The 2012 'reunion' has been discussed countless times and I think we can all agree that it was great to see Wyman on stage with the Stones even if only for two songs. He should have done more songs. Why he did not get the chance to do more is not clear. I am sure it had nothing to do with hurting Darryl's feelings -- he is a hired hand and there are albums/songs on
